Making a .22 dress up kit for my Barrett M82 and M99. Is this considered a suppressor?
Theyre both metal airsoft bodies that will house a .22LR barrel/receiver of a Marlin 795
The Marlin barrel is 16" long
16" of empty space
The M82 barrel is 32" long
Muzzle is 2".
Total of 34" I need to make up.
Is the red line considered a suppressor since I'm about 16" short. Can i put an extended 16" metal tube over the marlin to make up the 16" void?
I'm in California.
The diameter of the M82 barrel is 1 inch
The diameter of the Marlin is .625 inch

Here's the M99 version that will have a .22LR inside
I am not sure how it would be considered a suppressor, it could probably be considered a shroud, but it doesn't have baffles or any other material that would make it a suppressor IMO, but hopefully some one else will chime in. I would probably ask in the general firearm discussion section this isn't really a 50BMG question.
Although anything is possible in a fucked up state like Kalifornistan, just thinking about what you are planning is probably illegal.

my bad. ill post this in the general section. thanks for your input!
yea its just the long hollow tube that goes over the barrel. if i have to i can cut some slotted vents underneath the barrel. i just dont think there's an aftermarket barrel for the marlin that can cover 34 inches.
its not any different than putting a tapco dress up kit on a 10/22 ruger. i guess this Barrett looks just more evil
This is your 3rd or 4th post on this project man. But I understand why you are asking. The GSG MP5 clones were recalled because the "shroud" was able to reduce the report of the rifle. I seriously doutb that it reduced it enough for any of us to notice. But the ATF is special and got them recalled. Not all of them were recalled, just several of the first ones and it was up to the owner to send them in to be reworked. As for 22 silencers and baffles, you can build a decently effective can without any baffles, I'm talking just a hollow tube.

yea its kinda difficult to get a specific answer. but i did get it though.
there's an extension tube called a bloop tube used by competition rifles. so the hollow aluminum barrel will extend all the way to the crown of the muzzle so all the gas will expel going forward. it will look like one continuous 34" barrel
