I picked mine out of the pile today. I've been playing with it on some cheapo kitchen kinves. The results, even on Chinese budget stuff is IMPRESSIVE!

Sure but not $270 impressive...and they want damn near $400 for their pro kit...that's insane money for a couple of a strops.

... and after spending that all you have is a manual knife sharpening system. A more flexible system is a better choice.

I'll admit I used to lust after the wicked edge and the edge pro sharpeners. The price was always crazy high, and at the time i figured that was one of the easiest ways to get a good symmetrical repeatable sharp edge. The more I got into knives though, the more I moved away from your typical flat ground edge. I love my scandis and convex edges...neither of which lend itself well to your typical "clamp in" style sharpener. Then I discovered how awesome strops were. Anytime any of my blades regardless of grind starts to dull...a few swipes on the strop and it's back to hair popping sharp.
