Ok Iam teaching primitive weapons at scouts this year I need a recomendation for some throwing hawks, good wood handles and a classic forged head. i figure the boys will break a few handles so somthing 20.00 or less would be great. Would love US made but cant be to picky. Any help is much apreciated.
usually you can look around for cold steel trail hawks and they might fit what you are looking for. Get a few extra shafts as these are not totally scout proof.
I think the hickory hawks are in that range, and they make replacement handles. Saw them at Cabelas need a new handle for the one I have should have bought another one.

When I was in scouts back in the day, nothing we ever came into contact with in any way turned out ot be "scout-proof."

If something can survive the Boy Scouts and/or construction workers, it is officially bomb-proof. Believe me, I know.
I picked up one of Cabela's hawks for $24. I like it. Be sure to get some extra handles in case one breaks. I know a few online vendors sell them, as well as complete tomahawks.
Was just at Cabelas today. Mouse 16" Tomahawk, $16.99. Can't go wrong! I have one & they're pretty good. Get an extra hickory handle or 2, only recommendation.
