Something out of my ordinary work...
He had a dream about this knife. It was a comforting dream rather than on of those nasty ones some of us get sometimes. He talked to me about it and I understood about stuff in your dreams, so we sat down and drew it out. It was simple but had some twists. A hunk of odd stainless steel with cord wrap. "Priest" is a pretty good guy, kind that would give a friend his last dollar to help a guy out or stop to change a flat in the rain for a stranger.
I decided on some N690 cobalt stainless I had ordered for S&Gs couple weeks ago but it was at .280" thick by 1.75" high and 12" long. It is a combination of a bowie and a tanto. No handles needed and finish would be at about 400 grit wet/dry, I ground it out in a day and hardened the edge only, up to almost R59 and the butt, then put it into the oven for 3 hours. Sub zero quenched it in the liquid nitro. Left the Decarb on it and then cord wrapped the handle in a desert foliage camo. I have to make 3 sheaths for it for his rigs. 2 will be coyote and one gray kydex. I am going to give him some straps with holes in them so he can hang it from his belt...pics later.
