 Chamber pressure

I know chamber pressure is better left up to the experts. As well as the sophisticated hardware and software they use to determine such things.

My wonder is if there is an equation that we as reloaders, can use to determine a round about chamber pressure with loads that we are unsure about, but have tested thoroughly? Say with loads that have high velocity, no pressure signs, and that are above or at max published data, but no published C.U.P. or P.S.I..

I'm not looking for an exact science, and as stated, I know this is something that is best left to the experts for exact pressures. This is really just out of pure curiosity and kind of a way to get an idea of how compressed loads sometimes have less chamber pressure than a non compressed load.

Any ideas?

Probably the best solution for an amateur reloader is the Quick Load software. Don't cut corners, and the estimates it produces are pretty good. The loads you analyze still require shooting to find out if the pressure is too high.

Thanks fellas.

I was actually looking at the Quick Load software. But wanted to get y'alls opinion before spending $150 on a piece of software.

I've only got one load I'm not really sure of and it involves 27.9(C)gn of Varget. I know Varget is pretty forgivable when it comes to pressures, but don't want to get out of hand with it.

That might be a low pressure load with a 50 grain bullet, and over pressure with an 80 grain bullet sitting near the lands.

It's actually the 53gn V-Max, C.O.L. of 2.240. Which is, according to Hornady, 1.9gn over max.. But it shoots great, and absolutely no signs of over pressure.

However, it's @ 3550fps average, and .7MOA. The velocity is what I'm worried about. BTW, –– Wylde chamber.
