I'm looking into getting a chronograph, but I'm not really sure what to look for, or what to avoid. Any advice from the Arfcom hive mind would be much appreciated.

Imho, it depends on what exactly your are looking for data wise. If you just want to verifiy velocities to see where they are relative to published load data, want a handle on velocity variation during load work-up, and want to stay safe from overloads, any decent chrono will work. I've been using a Chrony Gamma Master for about 16 years. I can load the data into my pc, and do alot of number crunching. I don't generally, as I mostly use it for determining a load's velocity for sight value calculations. Once I have a very accurate load, I load up a #$^% load of that and put it in the closet. Next time I cook up a batch of ammo for that gun, I'll verify performance with it. This especially useful when I have a new lot of powder to work with. If you're a numbers nut, then by all means buy an Oehler. All the bells and whistles, with a price to match, and it is a laboratory grade product.(never owned one but have shot over several of them over the years.) You can get into the Chrony models for $80-150, if ya shop a little. Besides, if ya accidently shoot one, it's cheap enough to replace. As I have no experience with other than those two brands, I'll say nought about them. Hope this helps. 44.

I'd be sure to get one with a remote. I use a Chrony Beta Master, and am happy with it.

I ordered a CED M2 last Friday. I am going to use it to help develope loads for my 300 blk and also with all my other loads. I'll follow up with a review after using it.

I've read the Pro Chrono Digital is a really good one but IMO your best bet is to pray. I've seen bad reviews with all of them.

While I'm sure some of it is operator error, such as bad lighting and such, I still people having trouble with all of them and some having trouble with Beta Master, Alpha Master, Gamma, F1 type from that company. Mostly that they have trouble with them standing

behind their units or taking too long to get them fixed.

Pact is one of the best but a lot higher than the Pro chrono digital.

Get one good a dodging bullets!

My latest is a Chrony Beta Master. Reliably captures, works well when its bright outside. Navigation through the menus is non-intuitive for me, but I think it is a great value.

i will vote for the ced m2 had it a year and love it.

i especially like that you can just plug it into your computer and download the data then save it as a spreadsheet. makes it easy to keep track of and go back and analyze
