I'm thinking of buying the RCBS rock chucker supreme master kit. It's on sale for a great price, but I want to make sure this is the way to go for a beginner. I'll pick up a few sets of dies at the same time. Anything else I should get (beside primers, powder, etc)? Feel free to and any info or suggestions on what I should get. Thanks.

This is a common topic and there is a lot of info about what a new reloader needs in the tacked threads at the top of this forum.

When I was looking to start, the Rock Chucker kit was at the top of my list. I eventually got talked into the Dillon RL550B instead and am very happy that I did. That being said, I think the Rock Chucker will serve you well.

If you are loading rifle, you will need more tools to take care of the bottle neck cases. If you are loading pistol the process will be much simpler.

I highly recommend that you look into the Lyman 49th edition loading manual and the ABC's of reloading. They have just about all the info you will need on how to reload and what the equipment does. They also compare single stage, turret, progressive, etc. I saw somewhere recently that the ABC's are available free if you have a kindle. Don't remember where I saw that or if it's true, but if you have something like that it would be worth looking into.

You can borrow it for free if you are a prime member and have a kindle.

It has been taken down due to reported display/content issues on the Kindle.

ABC'S great book very helpful! get lots of data books ie lyman, hornady, siera ect can't have to many of those. check out the lee turret. its just like a single stage except you can set up your dies in one turret head and have one per caliber. its allot better that changing dies every step. don't but the kit besides no one kit has it all. scrap the manual scale however its nice to have to check digital scale with but too slow for production unless you use a dispenser. regaurdless eventually you will want a digital one. I am a rookie as well so take my sugestion as just that. just remember be safe don't get complacent check each load at first and if in question throw in bucket and pull it later. good luck and be safe!

HAPPY SHOOTING!

That's a good kit.

Top of the page, look around in Reloading Tools and Accessories, there are several lists of needed equipment, going by price.

Also read the FAQ's and Tutorials. The "How to load 223" 4 part post, gives step by step instructions with pics.

Same process is used with other rifle calibers.

My old school Rockchucker. Couldn't do without it.

Simply put, YES.
