Nice setup! I've struggled w/the "ideal" light setup for some time. Since I don't find BUIS practical w/the STG's short side radius & my aging eyes, I placed mine on the optic rail. This minimizes snagging and places the bbl shadow at 6 o'clock.
Would your setup work if you placed the light mount on the optic rail instead of the accessory rail?

I actually tried it there first, but there are two issues. First, and simplest, is that the tape switch cord is too short. Not much of a problem there as Surefire makes longer ones. The light fits closer to the center line of the rifle, which is good, but the extension to which the light attaches, interferes slightly with the front sling swivel mount. The swivel can still fit, but it's rotation is limited by the light mount. I decided I didn't want the sling swivel banging on the light all the time.
I had tried your setup before, but with my lower optic height, the light intruded too far into my field of view.

Top rail is the only way to go for me.

I learned the hard way with my aug. I got the 2 surefire m962 kits but the lever is on the left and guess what, it wouldn't fit the 45 deg angle rail on the reciever so I had to get a m952 with the screw type fasteners

still need to find a home for that m962 kit though.at least one found a home on an AR
