I just received my call that my interview is to take place at 10:00 tomorrow morning. I guess a sixteen hour notice is how everyone operates in this world.

Anyway, hopefully everything will go smooth.

What was the time period from when your check was cashed or app was mailed till the call? Also what type are you requesting? Give details afterwards.

Well, I sent my application in the week of Christmas. Check was cashed between Christmas and New Years. I am applying for an 07 FFL.

I received the call yesterday afternoon. The meeting was set for 10am this morning. The ATF examiner called me at 11:15 and told me she was late and would be at the office at 12:00pm. She arrived at 1:30pm.

I had always heard that the interview would take 2-3 hours.

She concluded our meeting in exactly 35 minutes. I asked two questions.

Well, then she clearly did not review everything with you (lucky if she reviewed 1/5th), yet, I am sure she asked you to sign the paperwork that she reviewed everything and you signed it. Guess what paperwork will be used against you if you ever have compliance problems....

No one applying for their FFL should ever allow an IOI to skip anything. If they do, you should refuse to sign the paperwork and call the IOIs Supervisor.

This^^^^ my interview took 3 1/2 hours and I asked alot of questions. It would be impossible to go over everything they are supposed to in 35 mins. Hope your a good self studier.

Well to be honest, I could tell this examiner would not be very helpful.

When she called for the interview on Thursday afternoon, she complained about being overwhelmed and then said that she probably wouldn't get paid for her work (Referring to the planned government work stoppage). She was three and a half hours late to the meeting. She did not have a pen to write with so I gave her one.

We moved rapidly through the interview with her making me initial each item. She says.."You're not going to do anything with gun shows are you so I will just skip that part". I had to respond that yes I might someday, so please provide me with the information about gun shows. Then she came to the gunsmithing part and said..."You aren't doing any gunsmithing are you...so we can skip this part". I said well, what if I have a customer who needs some work done? Can you please tell me about it?

The last thing was ITAR. I was really interested in this because it is always mentioned in these threads. NOT ONE WORD was mentioned even though I am applying for an 07 FFL. She handed a green sheet of paper over and said it was about the excise tax you have to pay the government. Initial here.

Frankly, she was just going through the motions so I just shut my mouth and wanted to get it over with.

All in all, about what I expected from a federal government agency. They cash my check within a week of applying and then take close to 80-90 days to perform a mediocre...well let's call it what it was...a half assed examination.

I think I might have gotten in her way of her REAL job as a real estate agent for Keller Williams. That's right. My wife was an agent for them and they always have a sales meeting on Friday until around noon. This is total speculation on my part, but her message on her cell phone says you are reaching... "***** ***** with Keller Williams. I am sorry I can't take your call right now".

I have a full stack of paperwork to read and a CD to browse through.
