I am currently living in TX but plan on moving to NE for my job. I am also currently looking into getting my FFL. First question is it reasonable for me to get my FFL because I will only be buying guns for myself. I am also looking into buying a suppressor or two. Full auto would be cool but not into spending alot of money on that just yet. Because of my move should I wait to put in my application? I know you guys probably hear these questions all the time and sorry I am just a noob to the FFL side of guns.

You can't get an FFL to just enhance your personal collection. It's bad bull. The application specifically asks if you're getting one to engage in business. If you aren't going to be in the business, ATF will not approve your application.

You need to make sure your city/county zoning allows operating a business out of your home. If you rent, you need to make sure your rental agreement allows it. If you own a home, your HOA has to allow it. On top of that, you need to get a state tax certificate, file a DBA, and get a federal EIN. ATF will check to make sure all of this is valid.

Also, an FFL won't help you in getting a suppressor. To deal in NFA, you have to pay a $500 SOT every year. Sure, you'll save $400 in tax stamps by going that route, but once you give up your license, the ATF can pop you for tax evasion. It won't help you with F/A either.

You need to read a lot more. If you're not going to be in the business, don't waste your time.
