I have an older sentry 16 gun safe that does not seem too bad compared to the current version. It's just too small and does not hold my whole collection and has no fire protection. It measures with a micrometer at .207 for door thickness and .135 for body thickness (10 or 11ga I think). I saw the new version and the door and body were about half the thickness and the safe was really light.
I'm looking for a larger safe no more than 30" deep and 42" wide with 11ga or better body and a door with more steel than the current one I have (hopefully 1/4").
I was looking at the fatboy safe as I like the size of it but I would go slightly smaller if I could find a better alternative. The 2K is way above my price range but I'm living frugally so I can do the 2k range shipped.
I almost just bought one of those Dick's sporting goods stack on 48 gun safes for $1200 but they felt like really think steel and my old sentry felt thicker and more solid. If I could find a deal in the $1500 range that would be great but realistically I'm guessing $2K and that is a stretch for me. Gander has the Fatboy for 2K here (they just blacked out the old price of $1799 though

)
What options do I have in the $1500-2000 range fatboy size or slightly smaller? I also really like the door storage too but can always add that on.
I also think I remember that the Fatboy Jr is not worth it compared to the fatboy from reading on here.
I was going to get rid of my old sentry but may keep it for ammo storage
thanks much
I have been looking too and the Fatboy Jr./Fatboy was on my short list.
I have it down between them, one of those stack ons you looked at already, and a Cannon safe from Tractor supply.
I honestly think the Cannon may win out. Better fit and finish and thicker than the Stack Ons, but not quite as huge as the Fatboy. Seems like a good middle ground for me.

what's the thickness of the cannon safes? does not show them on there. I saw them at the local TS but the doors were shut and I was in a hurry. Made in mexico was all I remember.
Wow, it seriously has 120v, RJ45, and USB ports!?
Makes my old Browning seem properly outdated. LOL
I THINK I read somewhere that they were 10 gauge, but do not quote me on that.
What i can say is that they were thicker than the Sentry/Stack on at Dicks.
I did not see the made in Mexico thing, that is kinda disappointing.
What really swayed them into my court was when I read about their Lifetime Replacement/Repair Warranty - some thug breaks in and smashes the lock off the safe out of spite. Cannon will pay to come in and drill the safe to get the guns/items out and replace/repair the safe.
Yes I can verify the plugs inside lol I had to do a double take as well. Will make it easy to put a goldenrod in there though.
EDIT: Asking price for the shorter one at my tractor supply was 1000. When they go on sale, they are down from 700-800 somewhere.
