Few Model 94 Questions
I recently purchased a model 94 ranger 30-30 NIB for 400... it was manufactured in 85, first year they made them i believe. Wondering if that is a decent price. Also, was wondering if anyone had trouble sighting in with the LeverEvoloution ammo. I think getting a higher front sight with a lower rear sight would work. Anyone have any suggestions on where to go. Appreciate the help.
I believe rangers come with the tallest front sight made (.575). One of the best upgrades you can do is add a Williams peep sight. Cut my groups by less than half. I have not found leverevolution to be any more accurate than the old round nose.
The Williams peep is a good one, or a tang sight if you want to try something a little more traditional looking.
My brother was getting some very nice groups with the FTX round last deer season when he re-sighted his rifle (a Ranger with stock open sights ) - i think the rear sight was basically sitting on the barrel with no adjustment left, but that had him in the bull at 100 yards.
I have 2 Rangers now myself and like them ––-they shoot as well as a pre-64 i have. The last one i bought, i paid $350 for and it wasn't NIB, but was in very good condition. For $400, i'd say you did alright. its NIB, plus compared to what you can buy new for $400 now (MArlin, Mossberg ) - makes it that much more of a bargain in a way.
