A pair of "New To Me" big bore Marlins

This first one is a 1965 Vintage .444 customized by John Gallagher. I'm still not sure what the metal finish is, it's either a hard chrome finish or a cerakote type finish. Whatever it is, it's tough, not even a scratch where the lever pivots.

It's been cut down to a 19 inch barrel

Hand cut checkering and a nice oil finish on the wood

Here you can see the button magazine and low profile Skinner rear sight

The other side of the buttstock

Still gathering components for this one.

#2 is a Brockman customized guide gun in 45/70.

Laminated stocks from Brockman, plus an action job

Good view of the XS ghost ring sights and scout rail.

Left side, it still has the crossbolt safety, gonna have to remedy that.

I bought both of these rifles cheap, paid factory gun prices for customized guns. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with this 45/70, I have another one just like it only with a ported barrel. I may pull the laminated stocks off and put them on my other guide gun and resell this one. (I also got the factory wood with this one)

That 444 is sweet. To me it has that 1970's custom look to it. Very nice!!!

Thanks, I really like this one. I can't believe the previous owner let it go.

It's definitely a nicer gun than any factory Marlin I've ever seen.

If you decide to sell this one please let me know. You'll probably want more than I can afford but I'd at least like a shot.

Those are two very handsome rifles, albeit in equally good different ways! Love the short magazine on the .444. Nice sight selection, as well.
