highpoint carbine
Let's see some pics and conversations/ upgrades people have done I just got a deal on one of the older camo ones. I am thinking about changing stocks adding a red dot and need more mags.
I found a like new 995 ST version with versa pod type front grip and muzzle break for $179. Im just not sure I can get past the 10 round magazine.
I turned one into a project a while back. Got it for next to nothing as a used range rental, sent back to the factory for refurb and then the action put into a new stock.
It's a fun plinker that was pretty cheap to put together. It now gets used for plinking and IDPA multi-gun competition when I don't feel like running the AR.
What stock is that, I like it. I just inherited a 995 and it is in desperate need of a new stock.
It's the replacement stock from ATI:
ATI Stock
I made the cuts in the upper forward handguard myself, so those won't be found on the standard model.
Looks pretty sweet like that, what did you use for paint on that stock?

Duracoat. Sniper Green and HK Black.
you have more money in acceseries than the gun cost wow. I have a plain ol 995 from way back stock is all beat up and she could for sure use a refinish. I love it nice looking shooter!
Pumpgunner......that may be the best looking Hi-point I have seen.....nice work!
pumpgunner870 - That is nice looking, very cool.
your highpoint looks sweet. i am really thinking about selling mine to help finance ar parts just not sure yet since it so cheap to shoot
I just picked up a 995TS and got my ATI stock in today, but I just came across some buzz on Hi-Point forum that there's been some cracked receivers that may have been caused by the ATI stocks. General consensus seems to be that the ATI stocks don't have the flex that the HP stocks (both old & TS) have and are placing more stress on the receiver. But there's also a lot more people posting they have ATI'd their Hi-Points with no problems than cracked receivers. I'm still keeping an eye out for this but I still plan to drop into an ATI stock this weekend, it's just a darn fine lookin' setup, and a third the cost of a Beretta CX4 Storm.
Oh, and also, I didn't realize it until I ordered my ATI earlier this week but there are two versions of this stock for the 995. The original version that's a copy of the Storm and a slightly modded 'tactical' version with a full rail up top and below. I went with the original version, the new 'tac' version was $100 more. Although if you buy aftermarket aluminum rails top & bottom you can spend close to that difference. On the one hand it's hard to justify a $180 accessory for a $220 rifle, one the other I spent more on a Troy FF quad rail for my AR than for the Hi-Point carbine.
I had one of the original HiPoints in 9mm and added the aftermarket "Storm" look-alike stock. I put a LOT of lead down range with that rifle and never had an ounce of problems. No cracked receiver for sure. Loved 9mm carbine but I sold it (dumb-ass move) and bought a much more expensive Beretta Storm. The Beretta is made better, finished better, etc. but I miss the HiPoint. Maybe its because the HiPoint is so cheap that you don't put too much expectation on it. Don't know, but the Beretta has never been as much fun as the HiPoint was. The HiPoint had a better trigger pull and shot at least as well as the Storm, maybe even better.
I miss my old trusty HiPoint. Some trash them but then most who do that never actually owned one. They are one of the best values in shooting.
ATI stock
Barrel shroud
Sightmark red dot sight
Bushman Canted vertical grip rail
Duracoated all metal parts (matte black)
Just got my ATI Stock in last week and did the drop in, only took like ten minutes on the work bench. I can't wait to get a fe boxes of 9mm through it and see how it shoots, but it handles and shoulders well so far. Mag swaps will not be quick, but this is gonna be a fun gun. What kind of accuracy are we looking at with one of these? I plan to mount a cheap red dot on the rail.

I found a similar problem with the mags not dropping free. Used some paracord as a poor man's Magpul.
makes it alot easier to tug the magazine out of the well.
I just took my 995 out to the range today. It took about 85 rds to get on target, most likely b/c I didn't think about how much higher the dot sight was off the barrel. I ran out of ammo just as I was getting close to the bull at 25yds. Also the Original Mag floor plate cracked in half (but still funtioned). It was fun to shoot but, and ought to be much easier to finish sight in next time. All in all not bad, still more fun throwin lead then sitting at home.
Is their a folding stock variant or an aftermarket folder available for this carbine?
nope bro there isnt any folding stocks for this carbine one guy actually converted the classic stock into a folder
This is the one carbine that I am suprised some company, like C-products, hasn't made an extended magazine for. I am not sure why Hi-Point doesn't just make it a double stack so you can get 15+ round magazines or modify it to take Beretta 92 or Glock magazines as these are readily available. IMHO this would really help boost their sales.

well i spoke with a fella from mk supply in which he said they're currently working on hi-cap mags which should be released likely around the new year
im really stoked about that

I knew the father-in-law of the distributor, use to chat with him at gun shows some years back. I think I recall he told me that the rifle was designed back during the ban and ten rounders were all they could use. Makes sense. I have seen some extended magazines somewhere but they were only fourteen or so rounds so no big improvement. I also recall reading about a guy who used his High Point in a carbine class. Others made fun of his "cheap" rifle but it went through the whole course without any major issue while several AR's bit the dust. They are an amazing product for what they cost.
I would buy another one in a minute just for the fun factor but I have now acquired two 9mm AR's, a Marlin Camp 9 and a Beretta Storm in 9mm. I am "9'ed" out for now.
Both my wife and I have Hi-Point 9mm carbines. She has the older 995 I have the newer 995TS. We have quite a few other rifles and pistols but the Hi-Points are always in the truck when we go to the range. Main reason; they are accurate and just plain fun to shoot. Combined we have a couple thousand rounds thru them without any malfunctions or problems. At 25 yards I can keep a group I can cover with the palm of my hand, not bad for 66 year old eyes with iron sights.

I think ProMag made some, but I heard they were crap.
Good to hear MKS is going to start making some.

Yeah, I was surprised that Hi-Point didn't have the sense to make a version that took a double-stack magazine while they were redesigning the stock. Good to see they're planning on at least addressing that oversight, though I can't imagine it will be much better than those ProMag ones, capacity-wise.
