looking at scoping a rifle that will get used in comps/f-class. Rifle is a savage 12lrp in 6.5 CM in a mcree stock. I am looking at a sightron S3 6-24 moa-2, SS 5-20, and a bushnell HDMR.
I am used to moa adjustment, never owned a .1mrad knob scope, but usually use strelok or drop card taped to stock so math (1/4moa vs .1mrad) is not critical. I do want matching ret/knob.
Which will allow for more finer holds 2 moa hashes or .5mrad hashes?
I have a couple sightron 8-32 s3 on BR rifles and know the glass is as good if not better then my NF scope I had. How do the glass of the SS and HDMR compare. I have heard about the CA issues with the HDMR at the hide, but believe they are probably overblown somewhat.
I have an older SS 10x non-HD, how much better is the glass in the SS 5-20 compared to that or another scope (NF, mark4, VX3 LR, IOR, PST, S3 in my collection)? And how are the clicks on the SS? My old 10x had crappy feel/ non audible clicks. I tried the different o-rings/lube suggestions, they just sucked. I prefer the click feel/ sound of my old IOR 9moa/rev, vx3LR target knob, and S3 target knob. Kinda felt the HS knobs on my NF were sorta mushy feeling.
Will more then likely dial for ele and hold for wind, but having the ability to hold for ele and wind (HDMR) would be nice for field shots and handy in some situations. Lets hear peoples opinion and experiences, thanks.

1 Mil = 3.438 MOA
1 MOA = 1.047" @ 100 yards
(Multiply the above) 1 mil = 3.6" @ 100 yards
1 MOA = 0.29087 Mil
2 MOA = 0.5817 Mil
Therefore the 2MOA hashes are slightly “more course” compared to 0.5 Mil (mrad).
You can hold for elevation and wind with any of those scopes. On the HDMR; I’m not a Horus fan and I thought the G2 reticle was alittle gimmicky for the following reasons;
1)The first 0.5mil windage hash is 4 Mil from center. At 9 Mil from center (elevation), there is a whopping 2 Mil windage hold (added: in hash mark).
2)The “tree” hashes do not differentiate the 0.5 Mil from the 1 Mil. In a pinch, you may have a 'divide by 2' error counting (added: and extrapolating beyond) the limited hash marks.
In most aspects, you won't even be in the "tree". It does not provide anything you can't easily do without it. In fact, it may be misleading.
The “clicks” on the SWFA 5-20 are fine. The parallax knob is a PITA. The optical picture is above average and actually notable. If optical clarity is a big point with you, I would not worry about that aspect with the SWFA. The reticle isn’t my favorite. The stadia could be dropped from 0.07mil to 0.06 or 0.05Mil. I’d rather see the “mil-diamonds” solid or filled.
Your correct, I'm embarassed. I am not sure where those numbers came from in my head. My point remains that a stadia reduction would be preferred. It looked heavy for a .05, and compared to the Vortex EBR-3 both at 20X. I have since sold the optic, I wish I could refresh my memory.
Apologies,

Target dot reticle would be my choice for F-Class competition.
