100 yds. R-700, one shot. Actually, two rounds, I put up two quarters, the other one was (further) off center.

Did you post the wrong one? That one looks off center.

Do it again with a 3/8 flat washer. Post before and (undamaged) after.

That's pretty awesome. How did you find it? How did you have it set up?

I'm thinking of trying that, but I doubt that I can center punch it like that. I don't want to hit it and lose it though, how did you find it, or keep it from flying off?

I have done that before, the best way I've found to recover the coin is to drill a hole in a log, (or what have you,) the size of the coin, then insert the coin and shoot it. Sometimes it will bounce out but it will fly in a relatively straight line from the hole; usually no more than 10 feet.

I used clear tape for mine.

It was PERFECT shot placement on the coin in my opinion.

I have it on good authority that only 10 shot groups are a truthful measure of accuracy so you wither need to put 9 more rounds through that hole, or shoot 9 more center punched coins.

Well, not ten, but a couple of months ago when my off the shelf Savage 25 LW varmint in .223 was shooting some 78 Amax handloads in the .2s, I took the change out of my pocket (2-.25, 2-.05, 1-.10 & 2-.01) & duct tapped them to the 100Y 1/2" OSB backer and used a black marker to put a dot on the center of each... 7 shots- 7 hits- no edges.. The pennies exploded. The dime is my new golf ball marker..
Now, if I could just do that with my 300WSM in our local 2000Y sniper matches!!

I'll have to take that challenge! I'll post pics when I get it done.

I taped the quarter onto a plywood target frame with a strip of masking tape on both sides of the quarter. The floor at the 100yd line is concrete so when the coin flipped off, it wasn't too hard to find.

Nice shooting. Much better than mine. Here's my quarter shot at 100 yards with my fudd R 700 deerslayer in 25.06.

Here's something shot at 200 yards with my custom 22-250 that was built off a 98 Mauser action. Many a groundhog has fallen victim to that rifle.

I'll tape up $2.25 worth of quarters before I attempt that. All the planets would need to be aligned before I put 9 more through that hole.

Show us how you do! It sure does validate your ability and why your out there when you hit something like that. But like alot of other skills this one is perishable.

How true.

I shot those coins years ago. The last time I looked through the scope on the 25.06, I decided it needed to be replaced. It was replaced. It's still a deerslayer, but I doubt I could punch another quarter like that on the first shot.

As for the 22-250, as of last weekend, she's still dead nuts on target.

But sadly, the older I get, the harder it is to poke holes close together.

Go get at it, all of you young guys! Don't screw up like I did and start later in life.

Good shot. Another thing that is fun as far as small targets, buy a hundred .50BMG API or incendiary bullets (spotter-tracers work too), then put them in a backing facing you, gives you a nice 1/2" target and you know for sure when you hit it.

Left: Savage 10FCP .308 100 yds - could do it all day
Right: AR15 5.56 100 yds irons - tricky!

I bit around the edges of a quarter too with my AR but these were my two "clean" shots

Packing tape, or you can put two staples on either side and bend them downwards.

Tried it today. Quarter on the left was a first round hit at 100 yards. Dialed down .7 mils. Quarter on the right was a 3rd round hit at 200 yards. Rifle is a Rem 700P with SWFA SS 10x42 HD, 168gr FGMM, using a bipod and B.A.L.S. MK2 stock pack/bag combo off a concrete slab.

Here's what I do... stick the coin in a birthday balloon.... then staple the hose end of the balloon on a wood post.
The coin in the bottom of the balloon will still need to be flat / up against the wood.

Two rounds of 5.56 FMJ out of my wifes TC Encore @ 100 yds.

Here's the back side-
