I got out to shoot my rifle today. Its a Savage 11 in .300 WSM. I have changed the stock, added CDI bottom metal, Alpha mag, new bolt handle etc, this is the first chance I have gotten to shoot it since deer season. Anyways, out of the twenty Fusion 165gr rounds I shot, two of the primers seperated from the case. There was no difference in the shot, I didn't realize it until I couldn't chamber the next round.. Could something in my rifle be causing this or is it bad ammo?

Federal brass, you say? Dropping primers on a single loading? Unheard of!!

The Fusion stuff is loaded a little hot, too, which doesn't help. Stuff's just soft.

Until I start loading I still need to use factory ammo.

Then check out Hornady. It's the only factory ammo I shoot in my rifle.

What they are trying to tell you is that federal brass seems to be pretty soft.

It isn't very highly regarding in the realm of reloading, and could very likely also be the reason for your recent problems.

Thanks. I'll give another brand a shot.
