I have one of there 15" 5/8's gongs (received as a wedding gift ) and I love it, Shot it with everything up to .308/54R with no unexpected damage. Its been shot at 10 yards to 400 yards as a swinging target, I highly doubt I'll destroy this target. The edges now have been showing hits but I dont have any AR500 that deforms around the edge when hit by rifle rounds.

54R Hits

EDIT: Video of target being shot with my AR and PSL, rings pretty well for being so large and thick... Shitty video never intended for it to be on Youtube...

What thickness should I get? It will be shot with a 308. I have always heard 1/2" but searching some people say as long as its ar500 3/8" would be fine.

In my experience it depends on how you will mount your target. I destroyed a static 3/8" plate after less than a year of hard use. The plate did have a major design flaw with stress concentration with the corner radius, but still my swinging 3/8" plates are still going strong.

It would defiantly be on chains or hose to swing. Nothing static.
