 Ordering an NFA upper direct

Been thinking of getting a 14.5" upper for one of my rifles. I have a gunsmith friend that would permanently attach the FH to it for me for free so that I stay legal.

Now, the question is there anything that would legally prevent me from buying this and having it shipped to my house? It is a non-serial numbered part, and as far as I understand it they are legal to own, but it is illegal to put on a rifle unless you have the tax stamp or FH permanently attached to bring it to 16" OAL.

nope. you can purchase anything you want at any time. its your responsibility to make sure you to not break any laws, not your vendor's.

i had my 11.5 shipped direct to my door, but this was after i had my stamp. if you're worried about a no-knock warrant, you might either a) have it shipped to your gunsmith, or leave it unopened when it arrives until you take it to your gunsmith yourself.

Nope. Its just a part. What you do with said part is the only thing that could get you in any legal trouble.

ok thanks...was thinking that I may end up on someones list for a possible "knock and talk" if I had it shipped to my house directly.

I had a 14.5" barrel shipped to my house years ago. No knocks yet. You're worrying about it too much.

That said, I also shipped it out to Gemtech the same day for a weld and pin.

PERFECTLY LEGAL AND NOT AN NFA ITEM IF YOU PUT ON A PISTOL LOWER .

LEGAL ON PISTOL
LEGAL ON A MACHINEGUN
LEGAL ON A SHORT BARREL RIFLE
LEGAL ON AN ANY OTHER WEAPONS RECEIVER
LEGAL ON A LOWER LIKE WWW.FRANKLINARMORY.COM WHICH THE LOWER IS CALLED OTHER

Interesting. So if it's over 26" it is not an AOW. This seems to be a partial reversal, or at least clarification of their previous position, yes?

Edit: What's with the caps?
