Hope this is the right place for this... I started my build with the idea of it being a pistol. I bought the pistol buffer from ACE, and when I started thinking about my upper, read the arguments for 7.5" vs 10.5" barrels, then noticed that people were mentioning 26" OAL to qualify as a firearm, regardless of barrel length. Actually, I saw it quite a few times

before I realized that with a 10.5" barrel, I might be damn close. Setting the buffer tube on the floor, I'm at 14.5" to the (rough) center of the pivot pin hole, which I would figure from my memory to be roughly where the barrel starts. With a 11.5" barrel, and a flash hider, even just the A2, puts me at 26 1/4" (ish). Is this right? The way I understand it, I'd be able to have a stock or front grip or both on it then. Not a big deal, I had planned on it being a pistol anyways, and I was taught to use the magwell as a front grip @ basic. But if this is an option (without sending $200 to a government that needs to learn how to tighten the purse strings) I'd love to at least contemplate it.
Thanks in advance
Awesome, thanks for clearing that up.... probably gonna go with the 10.5" barrel for my pistol, and no front grip.
