Good Day,

Is it alright to write the caliber as .223/5.56 on a Form 1?
Or do you have to pick one.

Here's another question -
Do I need to send TWO copies of a Form 1 completed?

Just put 5.56mm. We know that .223 and 5.56 are basically interchangible, but why confuse things and cause a possible delay by putting what appears to be two different calibers. Are you really going to build an SBR with a .223 chamber rather than a 5.56 chamber? If not, 5.56 is the obvious answer.

As for form copies, I always send 2 of everything. Might not be necessary, but it doesn't hurt. You do need two copies of the form 1 for sure.

Thank you kindly!
Looks like I need to redo my form.

Just put one or the other. No reason to get your form rejected for that.

What if you were planning to build multiple SBR uppers? Would 5.56 still be acceptable for the form 1?

I put 5.56, 9mm, & .22lr on my form 1. No problems.

Form 1 info. is as the NFA weapon is INITIALLY BUILT. As said above write only 1 Cal., Length bbl, OAL. You cannot INITIALLY BUILD something twice!
After you build it you can temporarily modify it without notifying anyone.
If you Permanently modify it, you are REQUESTED to notify ATF.

The link in your OP has the info in it on copies of FORM 1.

From the link;

"Please remember that if your document must be submitted in duplicate and if you print it on two sheets, it must be photo copied front and back before sending (printed on both sides of the paper and not on two sheets). You must send the completed documents ( 2 copies both originals, your trust, any amendments, and your check for $200 to:"
Red is mine.

That means if you're going Individual, not Trust, Both copies MUST have an Original signature from your CLEO.
