Any reason to consider something other than the Noveske Mk18?

Thinking of this rifle:

http://noveskerifleworks.com/cgi-bin/imcart/display.cgi?item_id=mk18b-556&cat=136&page=1&search=&since=&status=&title=

built with a gen2 lower.

Any reason I should consider something else ?

This wont be used for anything other than the range/carbine classes...

Why don't you get something dirt cheap if it is only for the range or class. That way you can get more malf clearance practice. I would get some crappy mags to go with it and wolf lacquered ammo if available.

I've got an LMT in that config. and I have it in case I need to defend my family with it. For that purpose your choice would be great.

huh?

obviously home defense/shtf is on my list of uses also, but that goes for any weapon I own...

now, once again is there any reason I should consider something else or some other configuration?

I got just a tad over $2k in my 10.5" Double Star SBR. But that includes the Phantom suppressor, tax stamps & other cool extras.
Yeah its not Billet receivers & all the that jazz but I like it.
If you feel that you'd rather pay extra money for a name, go for it.

I recommend doing what I did & just buy a factory SBR (base model) and add & subtract what YOU want.

And just remember, its an AR, eventually you'll change something around on the gun. So go a little cheaper at first to figure out what you want.

I personally believe that Noveske rifles are worth their cost.

Whether or not your use of them is worth the cost to you, I don't know.

I personally believe that MOST people would be better served by buying a cheap $700 AR15 from DPMS or Bushmaster, pay for a good class with a good teacher $500, and then spend the rest of the money on 2000 rounds of ammo.

That weapon and that experience will be better for MOST people.

But most people don't really know how to shoot and therefore waste their money on cool rifles that they can't take full advantage of.

Again, Noveske are worth their costs, to me, or to a professional in Iraq.

Please note that this isn't bragging or anything. This is putting out an opinion back by experience to answer your question instead of trying to convince you that you made a good choice or a bad choice. ONLY you can make that choice.

I'd buy the DD MK18 upper instead for cheaper.

Thanks for the reply. I understand what you are saying, and I agree...Ive been an active shooter for longer than I care to admit to, and I have owned bushies and RRA before, even put one or two together back in the day. I sold them all to get a couple of colts and an LMT....all non-NFA, and Ive already got my thousands of rounds of surplus ammo, not counting the stuff I reload.

The SBR stuff is new to me, hence my post asking if there is anything else I should consider.

As for the cost, I believe in buying the best you can afford IF you have the money for it...which I do..

I had been planning a BCM SBR build for a while but was procrastinating. I bookmarked the Noveske link in your OP over the weekend and yesterday I put a deposit on a MK 18.
I was told it would be in the shop in a couple to three weeks and then I can get my Form 4 started and begin the wait.

Thanks for the motivation, OP.
