So while at the local shop last night, I picked up a NIB M1A National Match. I've always wanted one to add to the collection, and now it's finally mine! I'm relatively new to the M1/M1A family of weapons. My rifle came with only one magazine. Now I'm looking for a little help-

Where do you get your magazines from?

What kind of ammo do you find performs the best?

What are a few things that I must have to complement my new weapon?

As far as Mags go, I hear good things about the Check-Mate Industries mags. From my understanding they make the mags that are current issue for the Military. I ordered two of them from Brownells (25rnd) because it seemed a waste of shipping to just get a $4 screw, and two from 44mag.com (20rnds).
44MAG.com is a site sponsor, and shipping was free and fast.

As far as the other stuff, can't help...I just picked up a Scout model last Friday and really haven't had the chance to play with it much. Picked it up from the FFL, dropped it off at the house, grab a bag of clothes and headed for the Oil Patch north of Rock Springs, just got back yesterday.

Thanks for the mag help. Next questions:

I spent the day at the range yesterday, what an awesome rifle to shoot. I'm loving it! When I got her home last night, I disassembled and cleaned it. It appears that the inside is lubricated with some type of grease along the rails and around the roller cam of the bolt. Is this just the way it ships from the factory, or is there a recommended grease type lubricant I should be using?

Is it necessary to remove the flash suppressor when cleaning the weapon? If so, how do I remove it?

Your NM well like 168-175 grain match loads. The NM is bedded, do not break it down more than once a year, it's hard on the bedding. Do not remove the FS for cleaning. Service the gas cylinder ever 500 rounds or so, do the tilt test.

Do some reading here.
