Korean M1's
I hope they are better than the shit they sent over in the 80's.
Reading the article they said they won't be able to export M1 Carbines because their magazine can hold multiple rounds. I guess the Garands are single shot. Bummer!

"They currently sell for around $220, according to another defense ministry official."
Wish we could pay that price.
Anyone else find it odd that the only news on this is from the Korean Times and have heard absolutly nothing from a US source??

I wouldn't doubt it..
You know Fast & Furious is tieing up the time of Holder and company. They are trying to figure out how to slither out of that mess.

As I recall the last time CMP had carbines they didn't come with mags. Must be something in the 86 import ban.

That has nothing to do with CMP,they do not import anything. The Army turns over rifles to CMP.
CMP had plenty of carbine mags for sale they just did not include them with their carbines
I hope these were properly stored and in usable condition.
I also saw this on top of this article here:
"Firearms will be sold to Korean War veterans"

Can I ask why?
You have can buy the nicest Garands that have been available for some time directly from CMP right now. Test fired and headspace checked and shipped directly to ypur door and also backed by customer support.
You think you will get any of that with the Imports? I just dont get it

I'm not. The last bunch we got from Korea were flat worn out.
You can get a perfectly good Garand from CMP for about $525 and up.
These won't be CMP rifles.
will this be m1 carbines too or just the regular M1?

Well, the article did say that they weren't going to be allowed to re-import some 600,000 M1 Carbines due to them having detachable mags.
