Dug the M1A's out of the back of the safe, its been 9-years...

...since I shot the full sized one. Mostly because I had a 6X scope on it for some silly reason. I definatly prefer shooting it with iron sights. So i took the scope and scope mount off it. I considered putting the walnut stock back on it as well. But decided to stick with a sythetic for now.

My Scout hasnt been shot in a couple of years either. I may have to strip all the crap off of it as well. but that can wait until I've had a chance to get to the range with the full sized one.

anyone else try scoping and M1A only to decide they are better left with irons?

Looks like a big ass aimpoint, but I'm sober either.

Wow!
That scope, mount system, and cheek riser look so 1992!

Time to upgrade the bottom rifle and enjoy the top rifle as-is!
Go shooting!

That 6x scope would have been good for hunting. Do any with it? Brand?

Haven't shot it in years.

For the ones with optics, I've gone to all scout-style scopes on mine, even the full size ones. I just like that setup a whole lot more. But mine are 50/50 between scoped and irons, so I won't slam on one over the other.

Most def! I bought the scout with the intention of scoping it. I even put my M68 aimpoint on it when I upgraded my M4 to an ACOG. After messin w the aimpoint I figured Id just leave it alone. I need to take her to the range soon. I finally got all the Dillion conversion parts to load 762 in quanity

Nice to know I'm not the only one with nice dust-collectors in the back of the safe that haven't been shot in years.

(I usually get flamed when I admit that... they must like you better than they like me. )

My loaded has a 6x Springfield Arms scope that is becoming more vintage every year. Open sights are OK but I have carbine types for cqb use, so using a scope is an advantage on the m1a for me as I see it. Good thing folks stocked up on all that Aussie 308 in battle packs when it was15 cents a pop so they can continue to shoot and practice.
