I bought a brand new M1A, it can with an extra barrel. The barrel thats on it is a non-chrome lined barrel. The extra barrel is chrome lined, brand new (has plastic plugs, a wooden drool thought it and is clean). The only markings are: SAF7780190 7 ether a 6 or a s y5. Should I replace the the non chrome with the chromed barrel? Is it worth it? If so, who should I send it to?

1) Why even consider changing barrels before you have any idea how the one on the rifle shoots?
2) Why would you want to swap on a chrome lined barrel which is less uniform internally than a non-chrome lined one (all other variables being equal)? Again, this is before you know how the first barrel shoots. If you have no intention to ever clean the barrel or leave it over the week laying in a swamp, then go with the chrome lining.
3) Is this the first firearm that you have owned?
Wow really, how old Im I and my location? What does that matter? Who the fuck pissed in your cereal bud?
Its my first M1a. I own 2 ar15s both with chrome lined bores. Do you own one?
Go back to the G.D if your going to be a dick!
Who would of thought, a douchbag from NJ?
"How old" was because your question sounds like a 12 year old kid with access to a PC.
Other than that, please accept my apologies for being a douchbag. It's been a pain of a day and I'm not thinking straight.
Good night.

Chrome lined barrels are statistically not always as accurate as the non chrome lined.
Changing a barrel in the M1A is a pain from what I understand and more so with chrome lined barrels. I believe Fulton Armory will do it for $150.
I would either keep the Chrome lined one for later use, or sell it in the EE if your current barrel gauges properly and the gun shoots well.
And chill out everybody... It isn't a big deal! Although details would be nice... Since its unusual to get a spare barrel, we wonder why... We wonder what you are going to do with the gun... We wonder how we might get more barrels too...
Or mabe we are just curious, and don't really care. Either way, I have learned a ton on this site, and there are definitely some extremely knowledgeable people on here. The tone that your post has will likely affect the tone and quantity of the replies you get.

Happy Trails, and I hope this helps.
I think I know where OP is going with his question. I contemplated doing the same with my M1A. The reason being why OP wants the chrome lined barrel is that he likely wants his rifle to be SHTF ready. I asked this on another M14 forum some time back. I have been told that the M1A with a non chrome lined barrel and cast reciever is nothing more then an expensive range toy as opposed to LRB, Fulton and Smith. I had also read that even the Chinese make better a M14 then Springfield Armory does.
