Are these bullets good for reloading an M1?
http://www.midwayitalia.it/epages/MidwayItalia.sf/it_IT/?ObjectPath=/Shops/MidwayItalia/Products/733374
I was looking for something a bit fatter than 150gr, maybe 155 or something, but MidwayItalia
isn't listing any cannelured FMJs at the moment.
Any hints?
The FMJ-BT bullet is not exactly match grade, but Hornady bullets are good to go.
Do not underestimate Hornady bullets. Try them I think you will be suprised. I really like them. I have loaded and shot several hundred of those with good results. Better results will be with 168 grain match bullets. On those i still use a crimp. And have gotten better than 1 moa out of my M1A.
I started using those bullets in my Garand. First loads were getting couple inch groups at 50 yards. I am loading with the cannelure well above the mouth of the case.

What is your OAL? When I load these bullets for the Garand and seat them to Hornady's recommended OAL they seat to the cannelure.
I have found them to be good, accurate bullets for the Garand.
Hornaday 150 FMJ's are very good. As others have said, I get better groups with the 168 match, but for FMjs, they are good.
Here's a group I shot with them over 41 grains of IMR 4895, Bone stock Polytech M14S, 52 yo eyes and irons.
Edited to add: 100 yards, 8 inch plate

I measured 10-15 korean M2 rounds and got the average and loaded the Hornady bullets to around that length.
COAL 3.327

OK末FWIW I just got ahold of my Hornady 7th manual and in the M1 Garand heading it lists a COAL of 3.185 for the #3037 BT-FMJ.
That is the bullet (Horn #3037) and COAL I use, with 46.0 grains of H4895. My M1s function fine and are pretty accurate with that load... I haven't benched them, but slowfire prone they will go into the 10 ring at 200 yards if I do my part.

The Hornady manual is what I am needing to get, just haven't had the chance yet.
Next load will be some rounds to my COAL then to the one you listed and see what the accuracy is like.
