How are the doing? I bought a lot of the 20 round original Styre nag before they ran out. I would like to buy some of the new 30's if they are working well for my LAR8 Rock River.

Bought five on Tuesday, received them on Thursday. Ran 150 rounds (30 through each) flawlessly out on the range...proceeded to cry about the price of 7.62x51.

My vote, go for them. $25/each and 2 years in the making.

Are they on the website, yet?

I'm kind of waiting for the Moses 25-rnd mags he plans on coming out with to come out, but now that I have heard about the DSA mags I am intrigued and want to check them out.

Are the 25-rounders up yet? I'd like to look at those. Are these mags alloy or steel?

They are now, link below. I'm planning on buying some of the Moses mags as well. When I originally ordered these DSA mags, they were the only people even considering making mags at the time. Hell, I think it was 2 years ago when I ordered them.

@Moses

How's the production of your polymer mags going? Looking forward to using some.

I wonder if DSA will ship the mags disassembled like some people are for California now. Also, are these steel or alloy?

I am almost ready to release my mags, I have one more revision to make to the mold just to make them 100% like I want them to be.
The Moses mags are working great and would work as is but I want them to be exactly like I drew them up before I release them.

Here is a link to a video of the a Moses mag being tested in a dealer sample full auto FAL.

Are you still thinking about producing 25-rounders, or have you made a decision about that already? Those are what I'm holding out on right now.

Yes I have already started the design work on a 26 rd mag for the FAL, LAR-8 and RFB.

I plan on the 26 rd mag to fit in the LAR-8 and RFB without any modifications.

Thanks for your support.

Ok, I have to be the one to ask the question everyone else won't ask.... If you make a 20rd magazine and you make a 30rd magazine and both function correctly, what is the advantage/purpose of a 25rd magazine?

From my personal experience, the 30rd mag is too long to comfortably shoot prone unless you use it as a monopod. Also, a 25-26rd mag should fit nicely in normal magazine pouches.

I ordered one along with a para scope mount and some misc parts.

Email from DSA says it's on it's way. Shipped the day after I placed the order.

Be advised. Unless DSA has changed the thickness of the magazine.

If your RRA serial number starts with an "A" the DSA magazine might not fit in an LAR-8.

I just ordered one from AIM so hopefully I can take it out next weekend and give a quick run down of how it works.

I clicked on this thread to ask this. Since a DSA 5 round mag won't fit, I guess these are a no go too.

Has anyone tried these in a LAR-8?

Five, ten, and twenty rounders are all the same size. Inch mags should work no problem, all of the surplus metric mags I've ever tried have worked OK, except for some old Styers I have. Out of 10 Styers I had four that were a little tight, I took them apart and pushed the tops together with the heels of my hands, after this they fit fine. DSA's measure 1.020" wide IIRC, the others I have measure .990". Rock River's first batch of rifles were out of spec, and they know it.

Please elaborate. My LAR-8 is an "A" serial.

The first batch of lowers RRA had made (these had serial #'s that started ACM) were out of spec to FAL magazine wells. The prototypes were tested with surplus mil magazines. These military magazines fit fine in both FAL's and the LAR8. DSA made their magazines to fit FALs, they were made slightly thicker/wider than the mil mags. These new DSA mags fit fine in FALs but were very tight in some RRAs. This info came from one of the workers at Rock River, DSArms_FAL probably has better/more complete knowledge of this than I do.

Afriend has a newer RRA lower (serial number starts with "U" I think), DSA mags work fine in his rifle, but are extremely tight in my ("ACM" serial numbered) LAR8.

So will this have an affect on the Moses mag when it's available?

You'll have to ask Moses that, see what the dimensions of his mags will be and compare them to a mag that fits your LAR. The dimension that we had problems with was outside width at the top.

I'll use a caliper and measure the width and depth of the upper portion of my magwell. Do you know the dimensions of yours? It would be interesting to compare.

As you stated, width was all that needed to be measured. Measured width where you can see the mag contacts the magwell. This is an "ACM" s/n lower.
Magwell:
Front = 1.005"
Rear = 1.010"

Magazine (received w/ gun):
Front = 0.990"
Rear = 0.972"

Right, My mil. inch and metric mags measure the same as yours and fit fine. The DSA's that I measured were 1.020", and were very tight.
