Anyone else's FAL not like Wolf?
I've attempted to shoot around 60 rounds of Wolf through this:
However, out of the 60 rounds, I've had a solid 10 not fire because of what I'm assuming is either light primer strikes or hard primers. They always go off when given a second strike. I don't have this problem with any mil-surp ammo I've tried.
Is this common or is my rifle just being a bitch?
I've shot silver bear before but not wolf. How's it do on commerical brass.
Only shot a few rounds of Gold Medal match, but it did fine.
I'm no expert on Fal's but I would think you should be able to shoot wolf, I know dsa doesn't recommend it but people do it all the time. If your having light primer strikes you either have a weak spring or a firing pin issue. Do you have a trigger reduction kit on it or speed trigger, not sure if that's what dsa calls it.. If nothing else I'd shoot it a little more maybe it just needs a little break in time.
My Century Imbel L1A1 eats anything.

I would suspect weak hammer spring, excessive parkerizing in the firing pin channel or something else causing the hammer or firing pin to drag.
My FALs work just fine on Wolf. It's a little weaker than the good surplus, but still works.

How would I go about testing these things to determine what's going on?
Mine won't. Cranked the gas up and it still didn't work.

Firing pin test:
1) Remove bolt from rifle
2) Press on rear of firing pin and feel for any grittiness or sticking. It should move smoothly and freely.
3) Remove Firing Pin Retaining Pin.
4) Remove firing Pin and Spring.
5) Clean firing Pin, Spring, and Firing Pin Channel.
6) Visually inspect all parts for burrs, gunk, etc.
7) Reassemble
Hammer drag test:
1) Open the rifle to hinge on the receiver hinge pin.
2) While holding the hammer back, operate the trigger repeatedly while allowing the hammer to move slowly.
3) The hammer should move smoothly, without any grittiness or hesitation.
4) The hammer spring should provide a strong impetus to the hammer. (it should feel stronger than a standard AR15 hammer spring)
My frankenFAL digests it just fine, and it is considerably more accurate than the CAVIM that I compared it with.
My FN-made Israeli contract FAL eat everything: Wolf, Barnaul and even cheap Pakistani or Indian ammo.
And even Chi-com 7.62x51 ! but sadly, sadly, so corrosive...I need soap and water ! ;-)

What are the limitations of owning a FAL in Belgium?
My FAL loves Wolf, absolutely loves it.
It shoots well under 2-MOA using it. Herter's ammo isn't as hot through it, I've blown a few primers on the Herters.
Ive fired 120 rounds through my SA58C, about 80 rounds of Silver Bear and some random Brown Bear. No issues.
A friend of mine said he Kb'ed one with Wolf a couple of years ago. I know its anecdotal but that's all I got. I've never shot anything but Radway/Green and commercial brass cased through mine.
My DSA has a lightened trigger group, and will not ignite Wolf with 100% reliability..it's been a while since I've shot it, but I seem to recall failure-to-fires every second or third round.
I have shot hundreds or rounds of Silver Bear without a single problem. also have shot Wolf to a lesser degree again without a problem. This has been in several diffrant FALs. So I suspect it is the way you have your rifle set up. That is a very impressive rifle by the way.
Several years ago I had a FAL that didn't like the hard primers on some Port ammo. So I removed the firing pin spring and cut off one or two coils. That seemed to solve that problem but I am not sure that this is the same issue that you are having.
