DSA did right by me
I want to post something positive about DSA.
My FAL had to go back for the recall on the trigger housing. They fixed it but the lower came back purple. I called them and they took it right back to fix that problem. Then the disassembly lever would barely move backwards for the gun to come apart. You really had to crank on it to break the rifle in half to clean it. DSA said, send the rifle back and we will fix it.
A few days after they got the rifle one of their gunsmiths called and said that he was sorry about all the times the rifle had to go back and it reflected poorly on them as a company. He then told me that he would fit a extreme duty scope rail for free.
DSA is a great company to deal with. Their customer service has been very good. I will not hesitate to buy another rifle and other products from them. Some things were messed up, and they made it better than it was before.
I have only ordered parts but have never gotten anything that wasn't useable with a few things here and there that needed some hand fitting. Hell sometimes I get a random surprise in my order (mag pouches and other random stuff).
+ 1 for me too,
I recently bought 2 DSA FAls and couldn't be happier with them, also excellent customer service
What does the lower came back purple mean

The color of the lower was purple rather than gray or black.
Did DSA have an explanation about discoloring your lower

I'm just curious how they would have sent a customers gun back after a recall in that condition .

They didn't say anything other than they would fix it right away.
I'm glad they made it right for you

I have a L1A1 Aussie with a early serial number DSA receiver that has not ever given me a bit of trouble . Now get out there and get some trigger time

Mine came back with a similar color tint and now you got me wondering about it. I just figured it was a different coating than the rest of the rifle. I didn't buy it to be pretty so I haven't given it much thought. Anyone have a clue about the difference? The original rifle had what seems like typical gray parkerizing. The new housing is a darker color with a hint of a purple hue.
I've had no problems with them. Whenever I had a question or concern about an order, I telephoned them and found their customer service reps professionally courteous and helpful.
Mine currently has to go back for the recall. I'm just waiting for the return packaging so I can send it out. What was your turn around time for the recall OP?
As to the purple coloring, I think it's the anode process of the housing. Bushmaster had a reputation for purple lowers on their ARs. It's just cosmetic and will not take away from the lowers performance.

I think all told it took about a month.
I just want to send my lower. I wonder how pissed they would be if I sent just that?

They probably want to gun to be sure it functions correctly. You'd be really pissed if the sent the receiver back and it would not fire correctly....

Having to send the complete rifle back is a lawyer thing. Because it left as a complete rifle it needs to come back as one. Trust me, we would much rather pay shipping for a 3 pound lower than a 12 pound rifle.
If you have any concerns or comments about the way your situation has been handled, please feel free to email me directly: mike.f@dsarms.com
Thanks!
Thanks. I sent you and email as to what to do. There were no instructions in the return box. I set up the return shipping over the phone so I think you have all my info. I will put my info in with the rifle. I put a zip tie through the action to make the rifle safe. Should I leave the box unsealed and let them seal it? It's been a while since I sent a gin back.
Seal the box yourself, all UPS needs to do accept it and ship it to us. If you did not receive my reply with additional instructions please let me know ASAP and I will resend.
Thanks!
