Used metric mags at APEX *Pics of Mags*
Just ordered 6 of these at $15.00 a piece. Been kind of hard to find recently and the price isn't bad. Heads up for anyone interested. If you already know about these and have some, how are they and what manufacture did you get?
my question also. How surplus are they? Apex has been great to me in the past on AK stuff, but that's AK stuff....
i miss the days of 3.99 per mag @ DSA

This is relevant to my interests.
I just got my tracking # today too. I have some rebuild springs in my box o parts if these are worn out....
They look Belgian. I am not a FAL guru by any stretch, but to my knowledge, only Belgian mags had blued followers.

All the followers are blued. 5 of them have the remains of black paint (original or not I don't know), one shows no signs of paint and has a larger beak than the others. I cleaned the old paint off the back of two of them and found a roman numeral "X" on one and a "V" on the other. I love surplus, so many variables

hmm. Mine are slotted to arrive Tuesday, I will post pics when they arrive to compare. Knowing APEX, they'll be about the same quality. I will probably refinish mine if they are like yours.
ETA:
mine were waiting for me when I got home. 1 mag had a little dust, the other was pretty clean outside, but had some dust inside. The interesting thing is these have the same #'s on the floor plate as a mag I got with my rifle about 6 months ago....What do the #'s mean?
The numbers are like the Nato version of our NSN, or FSC from back then. Most German G1 mags had that. Of course they are made in Belgium. Good mags. Still have a few new in the wrap from back in the day. I remember buying a few boxes of ten NIW mags from Tapco for like $79... Those were the days.
Got my two yesterday. Similar condition. Will order more and wait for midway to have their +power mag springs back in stock.
Those look pretty good, still looks like plenty of life left. I guess I got the optional battlefield pick-up mags

well I didn't specify, I just ordered, I was actually surprised that they didn't look like yours. I had my paint all ready to go to....
looks like there $18 now

Sons o bitches! They were just worth $15.00 imho, no deal at $18.00 unless free shipping is involved.
Don't worry, $18 will be a good deal when they ask for$20, or $22, or...

Apex seems to be getting more proud of their stuff here lately.

Not too long from now the gun show dealer I enjoy scoffing at with his $25.00 FAL mags will actually have them priced accordingly. On second thought, the greedy sob will probably raise his prices too.
OH, and UPDATE: I have yet to try any of the mags out, but they cleaned up good and look pretty solid.

Yes they are. I went to their site recently resolved to just bite the bullet and order some things before they disappeared. The prices had increased to the point that I no longer considered it worth the money to have the stuff.
I have 50 excellent condition surplus F A L mags on hand. I reckon that'll do.
I don't think they are worth what they are asking for them. I try to pay around $10 per mag for mags in the condition most pictured are in. I don't think I've paid more than $15 shipped, if that much, and the last purchase was not all that long ago. Between Gunbroker and the Fal Files you can find much better deals.

One of my friends, who had just gotten a FAL (which I helped build for him), bought two at the gun show and paid $30 each. Ridiculous.
Wow the price of FAL mags is crazy. I probably have over 100 mags here in metric and inch pattern. I don't think I paid over $4 each for any of them.
Oh wait I did pay more for my 30 round mags.
The days of cheap FAL mags are gone. I remember buying Steyr 20 rnd. mags from DSA for $5. each that were new back in the day.
It didn't help that a couple of firearms makers made non-FAL rifles that use FAL mags
A man named moses is in the process of making a polymer FAL mag that will be like a Pmag for FAL's. Until then there's still some nice mags at a fair price if you are patient and look.

Its been close to 2 years, hopefully he gets them ready soon.
Talking about other rifles using FAL mags, the SCAR17 uses an FAL based mag. I couldn't tell any difference other than the side mag catch slot and maybe the feed lips. FN cannot produce them in large numbers and they are very pricey yet the same design has been in use by them for around 60 years?
