Ive got a Argy open ear front sight block, the sight post installed is very tall and has alot of side to side play, there is a metal plate directly under the sight it just turns free and doesnt put tension on anything, under that is a spring around the threaded portion of the post, right now i get about 1/16th play from side to side and the post will turn 1/2 a turn freely, any suggetions..

Your front sight is improperly assembled. There should not be a spring around the threaded portion of your post. There should be a post and the fixing plate and nothing else. These are pics of a properly assembled open ear front sight assembly.

that plate on mine is upsidedown to the one pictured, also my sight post is much taller, it feels like there is not alot of thread left holdning the post to the base. also im running a inch rear sight. so shuoud i disassemble, remove the spring and install the plate corecctly, i may not be able to get the height i need to zero, like i said its a very tall front sight and there is not alot of thread to play with . right now the top of the post is even with the protective ears to halfway have a 100 yd zeo. and the zero wanders becauase the front sight wobbles so bad.my plate dosent look anything like the one pictured, and my front sight post looks alot taller.

None of those sight parts are for your rifle. Those parts are for a closed ear metric gas block. You have an open ear metric gas block. You will need a front post and fixing plate like mine and you will need either an Argentine or Israeli rear sight aperture and metric pattern rear sight base assembly. These parts are easy to find and are inexpensive. You may be able to sell your current sight parts for enough to pay for what you need.

WWW.GUNTHINGS.COM has the parts that you need.

Sight, front post, fits Israeli and some Argentine models, new. $8.00

Sight post locking spring, new $3.00

Rear sight aperture for 600 meter base, original Israeli, correct height for Israeli and open ear Argentine front sight bases. New $12.00

Sight aperture push button, used $7.00
Sight base, 600 meter standard metric used $9.00
Sight Z or S spring, fits into bottom of sight base, ratchets against screws $4.00
Sight push button spring $3.00
Sight pin, retains rear aperture $3.00

Get the tallest one. Making it shorter, if needed, is easy. Making one taller is a lot more difficult.

ETA: If they have one, order a front sight adjusting tool for an open ear metric front sight post. It makes life a whole lot more fun than trying to make do with needle nose pliers.

Umm..not so much. The sights at gunthings are Israeli and the round aiming post is the same height on them, it's the square pedastle that varies in height. Here's a pic comparing the different heights:

Palm Beach Parts is another good source for them.

My surplus lower has the lower metric site with the higher front post . I did what is being suggested by H_B_R and others . Get several different front posts and try them . The spring clip can give you a taller post if not completely torque down .

And this makes my statement false how exactly?

Melvin: If you don't want to alter the new front sight post, then order a 2, 4 and 7. It is only another $16.00 I will be shocked if you can't get your sight properly regulated with one of these 3 posts.
When setting your sights, remember that the lowest setting on the rear sight is 200 meters, not 100 yards. If you set you target at 100 yards, you want the center of the GROUP to be 2 inches above the point of aim. That is if you want the settings on the rear sights to be correct. If you will only be shooting at 100 yards, then set them so that point of aim is also point of impact @ 100 yards.
When setting the windage, set your target at 25 yards. You will save yourself a great deal of time and ammo. Once you have the windage set, adjust your elevation so that the center of the group is right at the point of aim. This will get you close to your final elevation, but it will not be exactly right. You will need to shoot at least 100 yards to verify or make final adjustments.

so what does the israli 600m rear sight look like, as stated i already have a metric rear sight base with a L1a1 folding sight on it, so all i need for the rear sight is the Izzy sight to mount to it right?

metric rear sight parts. This is an Argentine aperture. But other than markings, it is identical to the Israeli 600 m aperture. Just FYI, either the 600 or 700 meter aperture will work. The 700 meter aperture is the same as the 600. The 700 just has a little cut out in the base to allow it to work on the 700 meter base.
