M1A group buy?
I'd be down for that! Loaded model? Synthetic/Black? Mags, scope, etc?
Have too see some pricing first .,But im down for a Standard in walnut..........UNDERDOG
show me the money (required)
Stay tuned over at pre-ban.com
Some members had indicated interested in "Limited Edition" for the crew though NOTHING is set in stone as of yet. Just putting you on notice

.
What about the new M1a from Fulton Armory...? Maybe they'd do a deal.
I would like one, let's do it.

I'd like that.
I'm in!I'd like to have another one.Standard or loaded.
So what is the delio? do we have a group buy or we are working on one?
I'd be interested in the new socom one they just brought out...
....sweeeet....
So where's it gonna be on pre-ban? I looked around and didn't see anything yet.
I say we jump in with both feet...
M25 White Feather
I'd say with a good group buy we can get this for the bargin price of 4 or 5 grand.
Back to reality...
I'd like to second jtw2's motion; How about the new SOCOM model? What's the projected price? Any interest there?
I'd say the M1A Standard is great, I believe the Loaded model isn't a real value and you might as well go up to the Match. How about the Bush rifle in black synthetic? Any interest there?
Just trying to get a sense of where the buy is going.
I'll talk w/ Fulton this week to see what they could do for a purchase. Between pre-ban and ar-15, this could be one heck of a buy

!
Still trying to get a hold of the right person at S.A. as well. Wanted to see if they could come up w/ a cool configuration slightly different than a "stock purchase".
Well I haven't seen Kevin's final Group Buy Rules, but I suspect "Come over to another board where I am advertiser" from a dealer that does not pay to advertise here is probably not going to get the a-okay.
Unless there's a check in the mail of course.

Well the GP was/is being set up for pre-ban.com and since there was interest I thought I would extend the offer to the folks here. The more, the merrier!
I'm not setting up an "ar-15 exclusive"...it's a pre-ban deal extended to our brothers in this neck of the woods.
Per Mr.Avila Sr.:
ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=122&t=222832&page=8"We are willing to work with greenmountainpatriot on his offering of an M1A........ if he requests it."
I have not talked w/ Mr.Avila about any assistance as of yet. Like I said above, everything is in a "Fact gathering stage". I do appreciate his assistance very much though! Since he is Staff on both boards and has been thru this before, I know his knowledge would be a HUGE asset if this does go foward.
Certainly not stirring any pots or trying to step on any toes, Aimless. I'm not looking for permission from any mods either. Simply passing along the info that wheels are in motion on pre-ban to do a GP. No different than if another member posted the info here

.
Hey if Ed gave you the go ahead for this particular deal then that's up to him. I would not otherwise consider someone who has paid advertising on other boards and runs a for profit business to be "like another member."
Well if it goes foward on pre-ban, I'll send c-rock or Imbroglio over to post the details. They way my "for profit" name is not attached to it in any way, shape or form

.
Again, this is NOT an ar-15.com sanctioned purchase NOR was it intended to be. I simply thought your members might want "in" on ours if and when it goes foward. Surely this is nothing to get too upset over...doubt any of your "for profit dealers" are going to be upset. I don't get pissy when there is an outage and they flock to pre-ban...
Was my thread moved to the pit? I just want an M1A.
Tell you what, if this deal works out the way I want it to I'll buy the GMP a membership. He's giving me enough bowflage over the years I oughta make him legal 'round here.

LOL!
No, no, no...I hope Aimless (or anyone else) didn't take offense. My post was not intended to be taken to heart...hence the mention of Imbroglio! LOL!
Aimless knows (as do you) that there is always a Porterhouse on the grill for him if he's over this way!

Hopefully you guys make it over for a shoot or two this year!
Rob-check your IM, we'll have to talk a little about this at some point if you think you can get it off the ground on your end. No biggie, we are all the same page here.
Hokie that's great! You do know dealer's pay a little more for their membership don't you? That is EXTREMELY generous of you
I agree with you on the bowflage by the way, Rob's about the only reliable source I know of.
No kidding, Hokie!
Thanks, Bro!! I'll send you two free cans of bowflage if you pay for my dealer status! LOL!
lol...wait a minute, what did I just sign my life away to?

www.ar15.com/content/index.html?sec=advertisePay the whole year up front and I can throw in an autographed photo of EdSr...

LOL whoah!!!
I had no idea it cost that much to be a dealer. Wow!
If I pay THAT, I'd expect the ARFCOM staff to drive out to Maine and hand me an AR15.com T-Shirt signed "Molon Labe" by Michael Moore.
And of course approve this group buy idea.

So are we any closer to selecting a particular model? What's the group concensus?
I don't know about everyone else, but my current M1A needs a buddy ...and I'm getting really interested in this group buy!!
Yeee-Hawww
Probably the best 'gif' I've seen on this board. Nice job Hepcat.
I think we need an FFL and a pointman on this deal.
I was nominated but alas, I am but a humble member in search of the ultimate tool, an M1A.
I just threw this on the table. I've got an A4gery in my hands right now. I'm technically all set. But if someone wants to spearhead this, we're golden.
Pending ARFCOM approval of course.
OR...maybe I should just get off my hardworking ass and apply for my own FFL.
lol I could be the 'Group Buy Guy'

Hokie-it's being looked into already, I would suggest giving us a few more weeks to see if anything happens.
It would be helpful if people who are potentially interested post here. How many we can potentially sell will make a difference.
I am game, let's get the ball rolling...
Who else????
I need more details on the specific model and price, but I'm probably in.
As long as CCA isn't (mis-)handling the deal.
If greenmountainpatriot doesn't have any luck I will talk to them if I make it to the Shot Show. What we can get and at what price, I am guessing, will be dependent on how many we order. If we are only getting a few I doubt Springfield will do much for us, that might just be a matter of talking to a dealer and seeing if we can get a price break. If we order a bunch maybe the manufacturer will do something for us.
I haven't given much thought to specific models as that may depend on what they are willing to offer, my guess is that people are going to be more interested in one of the lower end ones costwise, but I'm just guessing.
Is Fulton Armory still being considered, or are you going with Springfield?
I think the "loaded" Springfield Armory model gives the best all around package. I'd vote for synthetic furniture to keep it ARFCOM compliant. Maybe a stainless barrel. Maybe a deal on mags, ARMS scope mount/optics...whatever.

I'd be thrilled with Fulton Armory, but I think they would end up being significantly more expensive. I could be completely wrong, but I think a less expensive model would be of more interest to people. I am sure we will talk to them also, of course.
Please remember we're just sort of thinking out loud at this point.
I understand on the pricing issue.
Even still, any M1A from Fulton would be infinitely better than anything SA put out, IMO.
Maybe FA will cut us a sweet deal, as they are already handling the 2004 SEBR.
Anyway, FWIW, I'd rather see something in carbon steel with a walnut stock. I could live with a S/S barrel, but the M1A just looks 'wrong' w/o a wood stock, IMO.
I just checked out SA's site, and the Scout Squad looks very intriguing.
(Without the black stock, of course.)

Thanks Hokie. However, the only credit I can take is for finding it on the web...some other genius out there is it's creator.

Alas, I hope you lads don't think any less of me...

I'd think Fulton may be more inclined to work out a deal with a small group. I'd say they're more of a high quality boutique rather than a large manufacturer with DoD contracts to keep them humming. Has anyone spoken with Clint yet? Just to get a sense of whether he's be interested. I'd think he just might be because he's a great guy.
I called to order my FAR carbine and he was on the phone with me for an hour and a half. We talked configuration and parts, then we just talked about stuff. Real stand up guy and great workmanship. My carbine has NEVER had any issues.
Hey lads, can we get a more solid sense of what people are thinking about as far as a configuration? Can we perhaps narrow it down to maybe a
Classic or
Modern configuration?
Personally, I'd like a modernized M1A, something in the SOCOM vein. The SA
Bush SCOUT rifle is a good start...but perhaps we can make it truly unique rifle that only we AR-15.com members can brag about! Fulton has a modernized M1 carbine that sports a pic rail and has an Aimpoint mounted, so why not a modernized M1A???
I should confess that I already own a M1A Standard in synthetic. So I'm coming at this with an angle

...but I think it's a good angle!

I have had similar experiences with Clint and Walt.
My project was a simple dedicated .22LR upper, but they both spent a LOT of time/effort making sure that I got EXACTLY waht I wanted. I have Walt's personal email if someone wants to contact him.

Yes, I didn't directly but someone did (or spoke to someone there, I don't know whether it was Clint) and got back to me
I'd think he just might be because he's a great guy.

I agree that he certainly is from my experience, but that does not mean from a business standpoint that he can afford to do much different than his regular price for what would probably be a small production number. This thread has been read 700+ times but only a handful of guys are expressing interest in actually writing a check for this, however I will also check with them directly. Frankly I'd rather see a long time supporter like them get the business, if they want it, over a "stranger."
I will reach out to them in the next few days but I do not promise anything.
Slash if you want to e-mail me the contact info you have to aimless@ar15.com I will use it if it is different than my contact info for them.
I would LOVE one of these, but the price would have to be pretty good due to my current gun budget situation.
What kind of price range do you figure this might run? I haven't looked at them seriously in years.
not sure really, but given the limited number of replies, I'm sure it'd be discounted, but by how much I'm not 100%.
Gotta figure your own FFL transfer fees into this deal as well. Mine for example charges me $35 to bring one in, $35+shipping to send one out. Although that's been waved a few times cause I pretty much keep him in business!
I'm in if I can get a scout.

I might be in for a Scout if the price is right...Since you can buy one with about 100 rnds sent down the tube for 1200 So I believe you need to deal with the manufactor to get the best possible deal....02
That braked barrel looks loud as hell...braked 308's can't be good on the ear drums.
However I'll most likely be interested in whatever rolls down the pipe, if anything.
Count me in for the Springfield M1A Scout with Synthetic stock.

Very true. Perhaps when Clint is contacted and the group buy is discussed, maybe a threshold number of rifles can be agreed to. It would be an incentive for Fulton because they can crunch the numbers and be reassured it's worth their time and it will also serve to drive each of us to call our fellow shooters and become a schmarmie used car salesman....

...who's actually peddling an AWESOME rifle!
I'm working a slightly different angle on the pre-ban deal that is separate from this. A standard GP is going to be tough to get a significant price break. The manufacturer MUST be careful not to undercut it's distributors with pricing. Many times there are lengthy contracts involved.
I should know a lot more tomorrow...once I explain it over on pre-ban, it will all make perfect sense

Sorry to be "cryptic" but I don't want someone stealing my ultra top secret plans! LOL!!

Ha! Too late! I had a business lunch with the guys from Vulcan Arms today! They say we can get the V#10canreceiverM14kaboom in chrome for no additional charge!

Ever since I was kid I wanted an M14. So at heart, I love the classic lines, the solid function, the beauty of walnut with a robust action and a round that can really reach out and touch someone. With that said;
"SO-COM! SO-COM! SO-COM! SO-COM! SO-COM!"
I would probably be in for a scout in synthetic, maybe we could get them with a flashider instead of that godawful muzzle brake........... that would be cool...
