I gave Tom my order for two of the rifle RRB's this morning. Just call him at 1-800-307-0728 & give him your shipping address & credit card information & he'll get the orders out on a weekly basis. I'm hoping to get mine the middle of next week. You can't hardly beat $40 dollars off the regular price. As I told him I was thinking about getting the Oly Arms Pnuematic buffer but after hearing about this MGI unit I changed my mind because it's simpler with less things that can cause a malfunction.

If you want to do Paypal, I can accept it.
However, at this low of a price, I can't absorb the Paypal fee.
If you want to use Paypal, just add the $3.75 extra for their fee FOR EACH BUFFER.

Please email me for instructions for Paypal payments.

Please also be sure to specify the type(rifle or carbine) and number of units of each.

$110.00 each plus $5 shipping in lower 48.

Thanks.

Tom, put me down for a rifle-length buffer. I only have a carbine, but hey, I'll take a free rifle spacer.

I'm also wanting an adjustable gas tube. Any discount on those?

Thanks.

During the Group Buy, I'll take $10 off the price of one of our MGI Regulated/Adjustable Gas Tubes, with the purchase of at least one of the RRB Buffers.

That makes the price of the Adjustable Gas Tube $49.95 each, when you buy a buffer at the discount Group Buy price.

Load up!

PS - I have just been informed that some users of the 50 Beowulf have achieved controllable FULL AUTO firing by using the MGI RRB Buffer! Yes, you heard right. FULL AUTO 50 Beowulf controlled with the RRB buffer. These were some pretty big strong guys, but they were doing it. This is possible because the RRB has a "self adjusting" recoil control capability which actually becomes more and more effective as the recoil pulse is increased. You really notice this when you use it with a heavy recoiling caliber. I get more amazing reports about this buffer every day!

I spoke with Tom about a half hour ago and ordered my gas tube and buffer combo.

Tom, thanks for the very interesting conversation. I'm amazed at the products that MGI is/will be offering. Now to win that lottery...

This is a heads up for anybody who may be ordering for the DPMS LR308 or the AR10. Tom has informed me that there is a special shortened spacer needed several of which they have in stock. The thing is these are untested so there may be some final fitting required. They need to know this up front. If you run a CAR stock & tube on the above weapons you're out of luck. No spacer to use to adjust the length. A thanks goes to Tom who advised me of this so I could take one off the order if I desired.

I installed my MGI rate/recoil reducing buffer, adjustable gas tube, and D-Fender this evening on my registered M16. I had to add an extra hole to my LaRue 7.0 to access the adjustment screw. I just grabbed a 13/64" drill bit (as that is the size of the 3 factory holes in the top rail of the LaRue) and luckily the one I added in the second groove worked out fine. Once I place the Magpul ladder rail cover back on, it will be invisible. Hopefully I can get it dialed in Saturday, if the weather permits.

It has come to my attention that our accounting dept. has mistakenly added a charge for the rifle spacer to everyone who has purchased the rifle-length buffer system.

This was not supposed to be charged, and we are going back and removing the charges for the spacer, and crediting everybody's card who was incorrectly charged for this item.

I apologize for this error, and we are correcting it immediately.

None of you will pay for the rifle spacers with your buffer orders.

Got mine this morning. I just took mine out and tried them in both of my 16 inch carbines.

The RRB does what it says, cuts felt recoil in half. Cuts time back on target. I am happy.

I messed with my set-up a little this afternoon. Recoil was definitely reduced. I fired it single shot while adjusting the gas tube per the instructions. To get it to cycle correctly, I had to have the adjustment screw backed out way above flush, to the point that it is loose. I called Tom (twl) and he gladly discussed the situation and diagnosed it pretty quickly. He asked if I happened to have a new barrel on it, which I do (it was unfired until today). Seems that I need to give my gas port time to erode (500-1000 rounds), then I can crank the screw down some. As a temporary fix, I added blue Loc-Tite to what threads were engaged and it held.

I didn't have much time to test it on full-auto. I tried it unsuppressed first, even though my A2 flash suppressor wouldn't time correctly on this new barrel with the old peel washer from my other barrel. The closed portion of the flash suppressor was at about the 10 o'clock position, which affected muzzle control. It felt great with my sound suppressor attached. But I sorely need a PRI gas buster .

I'll try to update in the future after I get the new barrel broke in. The way I shoot, it might be awhile though. I bought the M16 back in September 2003, and have fired less than 1000 rounds through it so far.

Tom,

When I get my first RRB buffer, I plan on putting it in a my Holliger match built service rifle. I'm shooting the EIC LEG match at Camp Pendleton in two weeks and wanted to know if the RRB buffer might cause any change in zeroes. It's important in a LEG match because you don't get any sighter shots. Do you know if you've gotten any feedback on changing zeroes with the RRB buffer vs. the standard buffer?

Ted
twl  [Dealer]
4/14/2005 10:15:05 AM
Hi Ted,
The RRB should not change your zero any, because it has its most effect on the secondary recoil impulse when the buffer hits the back of the buffer tube.

The bullet is long gone out of the muzzle way before this happens.

However, my recommendation would be to do some sighters before you go to the match, just to be sure.

It never hurts to verify.

Best of luck in your upcoming match, Ted.

I recieved my buffer today and am quite pleased with it! Thank you for this oppurtunity. I was surprised to learn that MGI is in Bangor, Maine. Its nice to have another Maine-made product to go in my Bushmaster lower.

I did have a couple questions though, that perhaps you may help with.

What is the correct way to install the rifle spacer? I've not seen a device like it before and I don't know exactly where its supposed to go. I don't need it immediately, as I bought the buffer for a carbine, but thought it would be nice to have on hand if I wanted to try it in one of my other guns.

What is the purpose of the small "Defender" item included in the package? Additional cushioning on the extractor? I am using my buffer for a Beowulf carbine, do you know if this Defender is suitible for use on it as well?

Thank you for any information you might provide, and thanks for this great deal!

Hrothgar,
Thanks for the nice compliments.
Actually MGI is in Levant, ME, but the shipping is done from an office in Bangor.

Regarding the proper installation of the rifle spacer for the RRB buffer.
The spacer is shaped like a rod with a larger diameter flat head.
This spacer is placed into the rear end of the recoil spring, with the flat head at the back end, and the rod shaft going inside the coils of the recoil spring.
Then you put the RRB buffer into the front of the recoil spring, with its flat head at the front.
Then you slide the spacer and spring, with the spacer at the back and the buffer at the front, into the buffer tube, and push it into the buffer tube until the buffer retaining pin captures the assembly.

The three pieces go into the buffer tube from rear to front like this:
Spacer(flat head at rear) --> Recoil Spring --> Buffer(flat head at front).

It's like making a "recoil spring sandwich" with the spring sanwiched between the spacer at the back, and the buffer at the front.

If this is not clear to anyone, please email me or call me for further instructions.
The spacer is to be used ONLY on rifle length buffer tubes, and it MUST be used on rifle length buffer tubes, or damage will occur to the lower receiver from carrier overtravel.
The spacer is NOT to be used in carbine length buffer tubes.
Having the spacer on hand allows you to use the system in either length buffer tube, when you apply the items properly for the buffer tube you have.

The D-Fender extractor enchancer was included in these packages as a promotional gift.
The D-Fender is the original extractor insert that was the very first one invented for this purpose.
It is properly designed for increasing the extractor force by 4x, and constructed to not wear out or break under use.
It is the best extraction improving device ever made, and we invented the extractor insert concept originally.
It is placed under the extractor, in the orientation shown on the printed diagram on the packaging card it comes with.
It should last the life of your bolt.
It was included with our compliments as a gift, and a way of saying "Thanks for doing business with MGI".
Retail value is $12.95.

Enjoy!

Hi Tommy- I'd like a Rifle MGI please.

Hey Guys I already have one of these in my Beowulf. Worth EVERY PENNY - this is a deal. I'm going to try one in of my other ARs.

IS there a multi-discount on 2 or more?

Thanks,

I received my buffer yesterday; I went to my range after work to test.

My rifle has a carbine length gas tube, M16 bolt carrier and a Magpul m93 stock, 5.56, phantom 52 flash suppressor.

I shot 20 rounds with a standard "H" buffer before installing the MGI buffer. The difference was immediately noticeable, I don't usually throw words like dramatic around but the difference was dramatic. I was able to shoot, from a rest, 3-4MOA groups as fast as I could pull the trigger. Far better than the groups I could do before. The only issue I have to overcome is a slight creep to the left.

After about 200 rounds I ran back to my house and took up my marlin 22 lever action, as I was thinking to myself this feels more like shooting a 22lr than a 223. A cranked out about 20 rounds with the marlin the switched back and forth several times. I'm not the sharpest cookie in the box but the felt recoil seemed comparable between the two. I have never enjoyed shooting an AR more than with my present configuration, I had been considering replacing the flash suppressor with a break but there is no need for that now.

As an added endorsement the gentlemen of MGI where very knowledgeable about there product and ARs in general, and eager to explain all aspects of there product and any other questions I had. There was some initial confusion that delayed my order, they took every step possible to address the issue and get my order filled, once corrected I received my buffer 2 days later.

I am now off to test their buffer in my AR10, I expect great things.

I was also curious as to how it works, before ordered I asked Tom to explain:

The plunger at the end of the buffer is attached to two (?) tungsten disks and is spring loaded. When the plunger contacts the back of the buffer tube it is driven forward before the rest of the buffer mass comes to a stop at the back of the buffer tube before beginning its return stroke. The effects being you have two masses acting in opposition to one another slowing the cyclic rate and extending the recoil even over time.

Believe me it works. I posted my observations above, and have since tested it with an AR10, the effect was even more dramatic.

The Rifle-length MGI RRB can be used(AFTER MODIFICATION) in an AR10(or similar) rifle-length system ONLY.
This REQUIRES A MODIFICATION to the RRB rifle spacer to work.
The AR10 has a different stroke length, and requires the RRB rifle spacer to be cut a certain amount shorter, to accommodate this stroke length.
Several users have done this, and it worked out very well, and cuts recoil dramatically.

At this time, we do not offer the unit with the spacers cut to length for the AR10, and if you want to do it, you are on your own with the mod. You need to know what you are doing, but it is not difficult.

IT CANNOT BE USED IN AN AR10 CARBINE. ONLY RIFLE. AND ONLY THEN, WITH THE NECESSARY MODIFICATION.

I have been advised by Mack that we will soon release a version of the RRB that is correctly sized for the AR10, and will have rifle model and carbine model.

Perhaps one of the users who has made this modification for their AR10 type rifle can share with us how much length they cut off the spacer to make it work well in that system.

Is there a point where you get too little recoil?

I have a 16 mid-length carbine with a OPS style break, and a m-16 carrier, wolf +10% buffer spring and a standard carbine buffer in a M-4 carbine stock. It recoils less than my 20"rifle right now. Is there a cross-over point that will result in malfunctions if I add an adjustable gas regulator and the MGI buffer?

I'm trying to decide to order just one, or two of them right now.
