Tier 2 Pelvic Protection Armor
Current operations expose US Armed Forces personnel to threats of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) and the concurrent damages associated with these events. Increased protection for the pelvic region is desired to protect against the effects of this threat. This system can provide increased protection to the groin, perineum and closely adjacent areas from high velocity fragmentation.
This system is worn on the outside of the combat uniform from the trouser belt and be capable of being worn in a stowed configuration and easily deployed to an operational configuration by the user without tools. The system is capable of meeting or exceeding the ballistic protection levels specified in CO/PD-22 G (Outer Tactical Vest). The system allows unimpeded mobility while stowed and can be deployed within one minute with little to no mobility reduction. The Tier 2 PPS does not increase the infrared signature of the wearer and is made of materials that are non-corrosive and has a finish that is dull/non-reflective.
It is fungus resistant and not degraded by water, salt water, insect repellent, petroleum, oil, and lubricant products. The system is water resistant, attaches directly to a belt and is fully compatible with a combat uniform, common body armor and load carriage systems. The outer carrier is constructed of a mid weight Nylon-Cotton (nyco)
