OK here's my situation, i have a wood lathe and i have a crappy set of blades soooo i want to make newer better ones with the carbide tips, i also work at a metal shop, so i have the resources to get this done. The problem i have is i cant find the proper name for the retainer ring at the top of a wooden tool handle (see the part in the pic below) and I'd like to purchase some to finish the handles i plan on making. so could anyone tell me the name of this part. I've already come up with a dozen names for it on my own to find it online but none are right
Thanks for the help
here's the part I'm talking about
AWESOME THANK YOU
ill post pics of the tools when i finish them
They are called ferrules. You can
buy them or
make them.
i knew you would chime in with the answer thanks :D
Im thinking Im going to make them with a brass bolt or brass bushings
i've been looking at fancy carbide tipped tools and i cant justify spending $120 for a hand tool that's basically square bar stock and a handle i can make myself.
Yep, good tools are expensive.

I also try to make my own. Right now I'm making a dovetail saw out of a 12" drywall knife. I have the teeth filed. Just need to set them and make a handle.
