Actually we do have to pay tax on transfers.

Plus there is the transfer cost which can be anywhere from decent to outright crazy. Not everyone here charges 20 bucks for transfers. Around my area the cost averages about $80 for an out of state transfer.
After adding tax, transfer, and shipping it might not be much of a savings if any.

didn't know - no sales tax on transfers here - $15-25 bucks is about average for transfers- I posted just for info if someone was looking for a new colt in CA. that's all

Thanks for looking out for us. For some people it can save a few bucks but since they started enforcing the tax plus the silly transfer prices it will be a wash for quite a few.
