Prescott Shooting Locations
Found most of what I'm looking for except a shooting spot. Drive time doesn't matter as long as it doesn't require 4x4 capabilities.
Best steak place I've found is Leff-Ts on Hwy 69 near Dewey. My barber shop is the Prescott Valley barber shop next to the Safeway off east Hwy 69 just west of Robert Road.
On your own for the other stuff.
Try Texas Road House in Presscott puts Lefty's to shame!!!

Hey, that's awesome! I'm right down the road from there (well, not at the moment). I saw Bob's had good reviews but I'm looking like homeless joe right now, and would like a small time shop atmosphere. I'll try out Leff-T's because I had a bad experiences with Texas Roadhouse in the past and I like the hometown advantage over big business. Anyone recommend Prescott Steak (I think that's what I read) by J&G? Looks expensive, but it caught my eye. Overall, the town's great and it's been my greatest decision to date.
I accidently deleted my loading partnership offer. If anyone has a .300blk setup but would like 5.56mm, please let me know. Also, if powder is cheaper in town, than by mail, where's a place I could pick some up?

Check out Hunters Outpost 1201 W Iron Springs Rd, #10, Prescott. Can't remember the prices on powder but it's a great little gun store who has a lot of AR parts and guns.
Thanks again for the intel guys, I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate it.
I am interested in this thread as well. My SIL just got hired on by GalleryOfGuns, (she has the background for it) and her and my Brother plus the nephews are headed up the hill to make Prescott their new home. So, me, my brothers and pops need a shooting location for when we visit to ensure the nephews/grandsons get proper training. I do not mind a range, especially with the little guys but every now and then, you have to take them off the structured range to enhance firearms handling skills and muzzle discipline. Nothing beats fieldwork!
Actually having moved here only 2 months ago, I'd like to know of a good range where I can tune up on my various carry pistols and rifles. Indoor, outdoor, club or informal.

Do you work at J&G? The guy I spoke to said the same thing.
Developed Ranges:
Prescott Sportsman’s Club – near Granite Basin off of Iron Springs Rd, Prescott. Good facility, a little expensive, hosts a few shooting competitions. Handguns and Long Guns.
High Noon Indoor Shooting Parlour – Hwy 69 / Glassford Hill Rd, Prescott Valley. This place sucks unless you really need an indoor range. Even then, it sucks. Handguns only, maybe .22LR Long Guns.
Whisperin Longtree Range – Hwy 89A South, Prescott. Hosts shooting competitions from several different clubs and organizations, and a few training courses. Not an open to the public range.
Prescott Trap and Skeet – Hwy 69, between Dewey and Prescott Valley. For clay pigeon dusters, also has a small handgun range for members. Shotguns and Handguns (members only).
Copper Star Indoor Shooting Range - Hwy 260, north of Camp Verde towards Cottonwood. This place will be opening in a couple of months and will be an awesome facility! Very modern and very functional. Handguns and Long Guns.
Undeveloped Ranges:
AZ is 85% public land. Find a good spot within legal shooting limitations on public land with a good backstop and have at it. Clean up after yourself and respect the land! There are a few spots I frequent that are nice and clean, but no, I will not give out their locations on a public forum. I will, however, tell you about the ones everyone else knows about.
Dozie Pit - off of Iron Springs Rd west of Prescott. Trashed out unless you go all the way to the end of the road. 4wd not needed for the first part, but recommended for the end of the road.
Mingus Mountain Powerline Road - off of Hwy 89A before you start climbing Mingus, FS Rd 151. There are a handful of good locations out here, mostly on the west side of the road. One is just a mile or so from the highway, the others are under the powerlines after you pass Yeager Mine Rd. Nice big open terrain.
Rock Pit - couple of miles north of Paulden on Hwy 89, west side of the road. You can see this one from the highway, it's a nice enough place, but a bit of a drive.
There's a few to get you started.
Thanks for the intel Rizzo, I should have more of an open day tomorrow but my Realtor will dictate that. What's the deal with the crawfish down here anyway? I used to catch them at Holly Lake without a permit, but today someone flagged me down and asked me to return them cause I didn't have a permit. What's that about? I thought they were fair game...

Who was it that flagged you down? Crawfish are an intrusive species - kill as many as you can. You do need an AZ fishing license, however I wouldn't think any AZGFD person would ask you to return them. Here's some more info:

Thanks Rizzo. I might try the indoor just to tune up but will look at the Prescott Shooting Club. Looks similar to the club I belonged to in Michigan.
When I uncover my ammo stash I'll get you that Russkie 22lr––––

I don't know exactly who, as he didn't identify himself, he just said I could be doing that. It was a white truck and it was roughly 2100hrs when I was doing it, as I didn't have much luck during the day. I didn't have a fishing license either though, so I did as I was told. I'm kind of disappointed as I had a few good sized ones. I'll be trying again, I'm a huge fan of them and I'll be looking up my recipie as soon as I can get into my files.

Well, the up side is that it's not hard at all to find mud bugs, they're almost every where you go if you're fishing.....
I like a good crawfish boil myself....
So as I was getting my haircut, the barber started telling me that Watson Lake has sewage contamination? How true is this? And if it is, how does that affect the fish? I'll be trying my chances at Lynx Lake until I can get this rumor to rest.

Thirty years ago this would have been true:
Watson Lake Pollution
But major changes have occurred since then, Last year they started stocking it with trout:
Watson Lake Trout
Personally I haven't fished Watson Lake (for no particular reason) but I have seen many people who do.
I'm the FNG around these parts, so imagine who stupid I felt when they first told me this. Good thing I didn't eat anything anyway because then they really would have let me have it.
