Any sell-to-the-public wheat sources near Longmont?
My family and I are enjoying the hell out of the grain mill I got for Christmas (well, I'm enjoying the mill and they're enjoying the bread) and I'm hoping to find a Longmont-area farmer who might be willing to sell smaller quantities of wheat berries direct to the public. Anyone know of a source and/or have a farmer friend who'd do some side business? Worst case, I'll just cruise up 85 and check out some of the commercial mills toward Platteville but, since all roads lead to ARFCom, I figure I'll start here.
You might be able to find cleaned wheat at a local Co-op or farm supply store
Whole Foods Market often will have grain products in their bulk food section.
A good place to use while you hunt up cheaper sources for bulk grain buys.
Thanks, guys. As luck would have it, I heard back from a guy who was advertising feed grain - turns out he also has some "clean" (i.e. my kids won't be earning their allowance picking out bugs and chaff) wheat for $.20/lb. I'll be making arrangements later tonight for a hundred pounds or so. Woo-hoo - homemade bread!!
