My First Republican Caucus in Colo Spgs!
I will be attending my first Republican Caucus tomorrow in Colorado Springs, at Penrose Elementary School 7:00PM. Any other members going? Do I need to wear a suit and tie to this thing or RotoRooterman uniform since all there is to chose from is shit.
Don't wear a suit you will get volunteered for something!
Going to three here on the western slope. Hopefully my wife gets on the ballot, sans a primary.
Heading out in 10.
Home. I was almost tempted to be a delegate this time, but knew better. Last time, I was an alternate.
I'll give you hint on the flavor in the air at mine. I live in the area of the state with the highest Mormon density.
I kind of wish that our state just had a primary.
Our straw poll had Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum even. Ron Paul with 1.
I found it to be a very interesting process. I was tempted to run for delegate but with my desire to move to Florida, I didn't want to take responsibility then leave before mission complete.
Had a couple RonBots, my first encounter with them. GUess I just don't love America or the Constitution because I didn't vote for Paul.
Several on the hook for Romney, because he's the only one who can beat Obama.
Our precinct went to Santorum over Romney by 12 votes.
Overall, glad I went. I think once I get to Florida, I may try to get more involved in the process. Its the only way to drain the swamp.
I didn't apply for election judge because I don't think I could give it 100% while on my meds.
Just got back:
Newt 11
Paul 6
Rick 44
Mittins 13
Undecided 1

Dist. 34 here
Santorum - 34
Romney - 21
Newt - 12 or so
Paul - 1 or 2
I think the RP guy may be a member here. Marine, looked like an ARF member.
One of the criticisms I make is to what I refer to as more of a libertarianish right. You know, the left has gone so far left and the right in some respects has gone so far right that they touch each other. They come around in the circle. This whole idea of personal autonomy, well I don’t think most conservatives hold that point of view. Some do. They have this idea that people should be left alone, be able to do whatever they want to do, government should keep our taxes down and keep our regulations low, that we shouldn’t get involved in the bedroom, we shouldn’t get involved in cultural issues. You know, people should do whatever they want. Well, that is not how traditional conservatives view the world and I think most conservatives understand that individuals can’t go it alone. That there is no such society that I am aware of, where we’ve had radical individualism and that it succeeds as a culture.
Rick Santorum, 2006
Sorry, thats enough for me, it speaks to his worldview.
Rick is really not that much better than Mitt, just different. The only guy worth voting for was Gary Johnson, and he bailed out a while ago.
One thing I learned, after registering so I could vote in the primary caucus years ago––get ready to receive endless phone calls from the GOP soliciting you for campaign contributions.
