Trego / Spooner places to shoot.

Going to be in the Trego/ Spooner area this weekend and wondering if anyone knows of any outdoor ranges that are open to the public? Minnesota is lacking in the metro area, so I thought I could see what WI offers. Have a couple AR’s and possibly pistol to dust off. Thanks, Tim

Minong has an open range. I think it goes out to three hundred. It is mainly set up for bench shooters but, depending on who is there you can shoot anything. If I want to shoot pistol or while moving I go in the morning or evenings.

I like the minong range, i think it goes out to 400, i used the google earth ruler and it says 400 but im not sure how accurate that ruler is. I mostly go there on the weekends in the evenings because i can i have the range to myself most of the time. just pick up whatever you bring and toss it away, I normally spend about 30-45min picking up stuff because some people just leave crap all over, mostly food shelf cans of kidney beans full of bird shot

There is a nice public range on HWY 35 just a tad north of Siren which is not far from Spooner.

They will ask for a small donation like a buck or three to go in a locked box and Class III NFA is cool as well as .50 BMG. From Spooner it's about 20 minutes depending on how fast you drive.

There is also one a little southeast of Siren. Southfork is what its called. Not sure of any details.

This place is in spooner http://www.claytargetsonline.com/club.php/2538 I think it cost 30bucks for a year membership it was a nice place.

Thanks for the suggestions I called the Minong range today and found out it is unmanned and open so sounds like a winner to me. Plus it is about 4 miles from where I will be. Hopefully the rain holds off a bit on Saturday and I can get some distance in. Thanks again. Tim
