Shit apparently broke loose around here this evening, I was at my Grandmas mowing the lawn around 4:00 on the other end of town, and heard a ton of sirens, then saw the life flight chopper come into town. Figured there was a wreck somewhere no biggy. My grandma got a call from my uncle, who told her a SP officer had been shot, the man was on the loose, had highjacked a person and car and had headed up on a nearby mtn...... That's all I know of right now. I stopped at the gas station about 500yds from where the shooting happened, on the way home, the inside of the store was locked down, and only selling gas.
I live about 6mi from where the shooting happened, and he supposedly has went the other way from me, so I'm not too concerned, just worried about what is going on.....
My cousin is married to a SP Sgt. here in town, although he should have been off duty at the time it happened, but I don't know anything for sure.......

***Update in my last post...***
Keep us posted on what happens. I'm sure you will get the news before anyone else.

The suspect is in custody, that has been confirmed, he is 56 yr old William Dumire. The officer was a sgt I'm hearing and was there to serve a warrant. From what my small town news sources tell me, he was shot twice in the chest, point blank. I heard he came through surgery ok, but i know nothing else.....
I'm guessing he was wearing a vest, but I do not know what weapon was used....
Like I said all of this is what I'm hearing, plus what news tells me.....
I hope he pulls through.
I don't know why he would serve a warrant without a vest, but maybe we're just lacking some info.
Well I guess all the facts are out now, long story short, trooper is in stable condition in Morgantown, and the suspect is dead, found dead in a culvert after a shootout. Not sure if police killed him, or he shot himself.

Pretty crazy chain of events for sure. Heck it was just over year ago when a guy in town shot and killed a US Marshall, and wounded 2 others. This stuff doesn't happen around here, but I guess people are getting more and more desperate....
