ME gun laws
So let me get this straight. I need a CCW if I want to carry concealed and long guns are not regulated.
Pretty much. I think it best to also purchase a hunting license. Hunting regulations come in to play for the long guns. Maine doe not allow Sunday hunting, and possession of a long gun under certain circumstances (Basically in the woods on Sunday) can be construed as hunting on Sunday. You'll need to read the hunting law book.

Their laws aren't tought to deal with. And, in upper Maine, it's one of the few places where the local 7-11 has coffee, donuts, and ammo on the shelf. LOL

Thanks guys. I currently in the process of moving there right now. I can't wait to get away from CT and there retarded laws. Now just to get all my stuff from MI....
we have no weapons bans of any sort - "assault weapons" and all forms of NFA are perfectly legal.
we don't require any sort of "licenses" or "permits" to buy, own, or transport firearms, nor do we need any permit to open carry - you can walk into a store with nothing but your license and a bunch of cash, and walk out a few minutes later with a new pistol on your hip.
the only permit is for CCW, and it's relatively cheap and easy to get, though we do have training requirements.
If you are military or ex military and have firearms training listed on your DD214,it will satisfy the training requirement.
Non-Resident permits are very easy to get as well. I had taken the NRA course for my old CT permit and that was satisfactory for the ME State Police. IIRC it was $50-$60 and a few months to get my permit in the mail.
