Ammo storage in garage question
Finally bought a house and moving in soon. Currently I have all my ammo stored in ammo cans in the basement. Some is still in the sealed spam cans. Am I looking at issues storing it in the garage year round? Having it all inside isn't an option. If I pack it all with desicant should I be ok in the freezing of winter and hot humidity of the summer?
Store it out there and forget about it
I keep mine in a non-heated/non-insulated detached garage inside ammo cans and have never had an issue.
I'd just throw in a proper sized / number of desiccant packs and call it good enough.

This
Sportsmans Guide had the wooden crates that house 2 50cal ammo cans and used that to hold 1680rds of 556. (840 per can)
With disecant as described above, it should be good for quite some time even through extreme temps.
This works for all types of ammo.
For 250rd flats of trap/skeet shotgun shells, keep them wrapped in a plastic bag. This might be overkill, though.
I had 5.56, 7.62x39, 7.62x51 or .308 win..and 00 buck shot in the garage for years..(and tons inside next to the safe...). Took a few out about a month ago just for shits and giggles on my father in law's land....no problems at all.....VERDICT....I think it's fine in the garage.....I shot about 400 rounds from my sealed can of 7.62x39 in my yugo AK and romanian Ak w no problems at all that was out of a sealed 700 can left in the garage for years......mind you..there were alot of people that wanted to shoot an Ak just for the heck of it in an open 120 acre farm..

I just keep it all in the garage, ammo cans(GI and new cheapo plastic). Been there for yrs, it all goes bang.
