Any toyota service technicians here?
Hi I have a 2007 toyota tacoma trd sport acess cab (certified) with 49k miles.....6 speed manual.... Recently there was a high pitch constant squeek underneath the truck first heard when running parked and now also while in motion. I recently discovered when I push the clutch in 1/8 of the way the sound stops and when I depress it it comes back again. at first I thought it was a belt and had firestone check the belts during a oil change last week. They said all belts were fine. I did research on the web and found out other Tacoma owners had the same issue with older models and had their "throw out bearings" replaced. The thought of going to a toyota service dealership makes me sick and I hate paying money just to assess what the issue is, and later finding out it isnt a warranty covered item, and dishing out more money. Anyone know if this part is under warranty and if not how much its going to cos to service?.....there really wasnt any other info on the web other than the part that needs replacing. Any repair shops in MD that work on Toyota trucks? Thanks.
Where in MD are you?
Cockeysville
My neighbor has his own shop in Catonsville and I've had him do some work for me, as have a number of other friends.
Not sure he does toyota stuff but it might be worth a shot unless you can find someone else with more recommendations. If it is a throw out bearing, that's your trans and I think most folks replace clutch and pressure plate while they're at it. Any idea what your power train warranty is? If you're still covered, you'd likely be under warranty for that.
Thanks for the reply...found out it is a clutch bearing and its covered under my toyota certified warranty
