Realtor/house selling service in Huntsville?
Unfortunately, my father died yesterday and I'll be the executor of his will, one of the biggest tasks will be selling his house. Unfortunately, I live in Georgia and won't have a lot of resources to clean it up (and it needs some serious work, the carpets are original to the house, which was built in 1978, although there don't seem to be any major structural issues, there are also some places where minor sheetrock work is required to repair water damage).
Can anyone recommend a realtor for this situation? It'll probably take me a month or two just to get personal stuff cleaned out, although we'll probably attack a lot of that later this week when the rest of the family arrives.
I can't help with your request but I do want to express my sympathy for the loss of your father.
Condolences also, I'll be back at work Tuesday and ask around. I still work in a school and will email all the teachers (104) and ask if they know anyone.
I've worked with Stella before she got into real estate. She and her husband used to flip houses so she should have some ideas and contacts for the repairs.
Sorry about your dad.
I have a friend who's a broker in the Huntsville area that I've known for some 15 years, and we also worked at the same real estate agency in Birmingham some years ago. He and his wife have been in the business for many years, and you can count on their honesty. He's also owned a number of rental properties through the years and is well versed in repair issues. His name is David Bailey, Crye-Leike Realtors, e-mail is email@example.com. Tell him Dave in Hoover recommended him.
Lonewolf... My father in law is one the top realtors in North Alabama area. PM a phone number and I can have him get in touch with you or if you would rather, I can send you his number.
Folks, thanks for the replies, still digging through lots of legal paperwork before we're far enough to look at selling the house, we've just made sure to get the valuables and true memorabilia out for now and I'll be getting as much of the rest of what we're keeping out as soon as I can.
