anyone getting any of the bad weather yet?
nothing in the northeast birmingham area yet. bout to crank up my ham radio and monitor some of the local repeaters.
in central ms. nothing here yet
I'm in Tupelo, MS, windy as hell. Oxford looks like they are getting some rain, the worst is still around Memphis. We should get it after midnight by my best guess.
Got a crap load of rain sometime last night, early this morning. Lot of thunder and lightning, but I haven't heard any reports of damage as yet.
North Alabama, west of Hsv.
The bad stuff hit this area (Elmore/Autauga/Chilton Co.) an hour or so ago and there are reports of damage all around us, but none here at home and the front seems to be past us now.
Prayers sent for all those affected in JeffCo and elsewhere.
the tornado traveled bout three blocks west then prolly half a mile north of us. we were very blessed and had no damage. only lost power for a few minutes. i woke up around three and turned on my ham radio. around 315 to 330 i heard a station up the street report a tree was on his house and car so me and the family got in our safe place. waiting now for the ema to do what they do and the power company to do what they do, so i can go out this afternoon and try to lend a hand somewhere.
It was worse
than I though and closer
than I thought before I left the house. I got turned around several times on my way in to the office by downed trees and power lines, and saw quite a bit of residential damage (in Elmore and Millbrook). We have a few small trees on our property that snapped, but nothing close to the house –– we were very fortunate.
Classmate said her grandfathers old plantation style house is ruined. Tree through it.
