I've not seen it hail that hard for that long in forever.... Just sprinklin now... Waiting for it to slow up a bit more before I go out to check the truck... I'm thinking(hoping) it'll be ok... I hate driving something that looks like a Golf Ball or someone took a ball Peen Hammer to it,

That's nuts. All we had was a minor sprinkle today.

I live in Maryland Heights.

Back glass in car is gone.

Punched a hole in one of the plastic body panels.

Dents. Lots of dents.

I live in Maryland Heights as well, but I'm currently at work in Bridgeton. Wife sent me a pic of larger than golf ball sized hail. Cracked one of the car's windshields in multiple places. Broke the glass patio table. Surely we'll need a new roof as well. Just hope we can get new siding too...

HOLY SHIT!!!

1. I did not know cars like that had plastic panels like that...
2. I never seen hail punch a hole in a car like that...

Hopefully, the insurances takes care of you on it...

Glad your house is still in tact...

Wow..

Yeah, I'm very glad I was not driving at the time. Also, I'm in an apartment complex so no worries about a house roof (thank God). When I was in the hardware store there were people running in for tarps with water pouring into their homes.

It's a Saturn Ion, the plastic body panels are supposed to be a 'feature' and they are nice up to a point (door dings, and light hail).

I would imagine sheet metal would have survived with a very large dent.

I hear ya, I was a bit worried about our second car, its a Saturn Ion too (I think its an ION) and the old lady was in it, stuck in traffic at 270 and Dorrset during this.. I told her to pull off under an overpass and keep the flashers on..

It was bad here in St. Ann, though we didn't end up with damage... its amazing how loud and large the hail sounds (I thought it was baseball sized till I went out after it passed)
Some friends in Maryland Heights lost both rear windshields in their cars, a sun roof, both windshields mangled, their 5 month old gutters :(
I'm starting to think that the northern part of the county has had enough of this weather... and we can finally get together on this perspex bubble I've designed...

No hail here in the middle of the state (yet), but last night it rained like a mutha'. Got 1.1" of rain between 23 00:45 and 01:30.... don't know that I've seen it rain quite that hard here before.

Thunder/rain right now, and the radar isn't encouraging.

We were at cubscout family camp in northern st Charles co. Best option was to huddle under the shelter building and watch the cars get beat to crap and the tents fill with water. Was a stark learning experience for those that didn't realize now important it is to avoid those low spots

Been there done that...

We were camping down at Sam A Baker State Park when a Huge Thunderstorm and tornado came through.... Not Fun!!!

After it was over, my parents told me the zipper was busted, we were all stuck in the tent I cut a new door in the side of the tent (I've always carried a pocket knife of some sorts) and we all ran like hell for the cars.

I remember the running like my hair was on fire, but I didn't remember the making of the new door... They showed me the tent...

Good...

It was strange, when I 1st when out there, it looked like it had several dings on the hood and upper fender... Even after I wiped away the water... Later I went out to take pics and they were gone... I swear they were there earlier and I had not fired up the crack pipe once that day...

DAMN, Page ownage fail!!!! I always miss it...

Just went out and re-taped the rear window and did a detailed once over of the car.

Hood, rear deck lid, and roof all look like a golf balls.

Found cracks in the windshield and side mirror.

Plastic trim pieces on either side of the roof (above the doors) are both cracked.

I wonder how long it's going to take the insurance company to get back to me. Anyone ever dealt with anything like this before?

If you remember the storm we had in March? 2006, where we got pelted with large hail. American Family took over an empty large parking lot and did drive through insurance claims 1 week after the storm ( on appointment ). I could of had a check then, but challenged their findings and pointed out stuff they missed, so I had to wait another week for re inspection. I think 2 weeks to have a check in hand, 1 week if I didn't fight it, was very fast.

My Altima and Tacoma both got a couple of dents. The Tacoma has less than 20k miles. Aggravates me.

We picked up some hail out at Josephville during the first storm that were the size of golfballs. The ones that smacked my vehicles last night weren't as large, but appeared to be falling faster.

I wonder how long until the insurance companies raise my rates again "due to a large amount of claims".

They are and have metal beams inside the plastic. I owned a 1998 SL2 for a few years. Very good cars that were easy to work on.

I met some friends for dinner at Trainwreck in Westport Saturday night. I've never driven in rain so hard. We just missed the hail. Once we got there, it looked like a driving range. Little golf-ball (or larger) sized white balls of hail everywhere. Leaves covered everything. In the parking lot, almost everyone's back glass was gone, windshields shattered, some side glass gone, big dents, and broken plastic. The skylights at Westport where destroyed in one area and in another just a handful of panels broken. Lots of broken clay tiles from the Trainwreck's roof were all over the sidewalk.

My burger was pretty decent.

A friend and I were eating at the Triumph Grill after looking at the new Duc that Moto Europa got in stock when we were rousted from our table and led into their museum. This was around 6 or 6:30 when the supposed tornado touched down in Forest Park.

All in all not such a bad tornado shelter, being forced into an old motorcycle museum for 15 minutes.

I was visiting Maryland Heights Saturday night. My car looks about like yours. Sitting here now preparing for the battle with the insurance company.

I'm 51 years old and I have never seen hail like that in person before.

My front and rear quarter panels, bumpers, and door skins are plastic. Hood, roof, and rear deck lid are all sheet metal.

I was worrying about the insurance but my agency has been extremely helpful. Dropped the car off yesterday at one of their 'preferred' shops and they had a rental car waiting for me.

Got the estimate today, pretty much getting a re-skinned car, no questions asked. Surprised it was not totaled.

I've seen the videos of hail like this out in the plains. Never thought I would see it in person. Never want to see it again.
