Engineering Student looking for work in the Wilmington area
I know this is a long shot, but my plans for the summer appear to have changed and I need to find an engineering-related job or paid engineering internship in the Wilmington area.
I am working on my BS in Mechanical Engineering, have completed an AS in Mechanical Engineering Technology, and hold a CAD drafting certificate. I have experience in industrial design/drafting as well as metal fabrication and industrial electrical work. I am proficient with AutoCAD, Inventor, and Solidworks. If you have (or are aware of) an opening within your company, please PM me here and I can provide my resume and contact information.
Thanks,
John

I hadn't even considered the Port. I'll definitely look into that.
Thanks guys!
Try DAK Americas in Leland, INVISTA, Fortron, PME / Mustang has a project in Wilmington, ADM in Southport. TIC is building the New power plant in Wilmington. There are several Engineering firms in town. International Paper has an intern program, plant in Riegelwood. Corning is located in Wilmington and has a crap load of engineers. Global Nuclear Fuels.
Not being a hardass but it is not hard to find an internship if you look and you have the grades. One word of advice if your career path does not meet their needs and you do not want to work in their business don't waste your time. They are looking for future employees and using this avenue to find those people and weed out I just want a job for the summer types.
No offense taken. I've actually already applied to a lot of the companies you listed, just thought I'd try here too on the off chance that a member knew something or someone.

IP has the best program. They even pay per diem!
Kinda a hard market to get into....Knowing someone would help and I don't blame you for asking on here.
Every college grad from UNCW, Wake, UNC, Duke, NC State, etc etc etc want to move to the coast. Most will sacriface 10K in starting salary just to live here. I was only able to move back here after several years of gaining expierence in my field.
Good luck!
