Spent last several days working out in Morrow County. It was interesting how everyone in Heppner knew who we were and what we were doing out there. Word travels fast in small towns I suppose. Not much happening around there it seems.
FWIW: I spotted two bucks, six doe, two male pheasants, and one opossum.

I'm thinking of trying for a deer tag out there next season. Anyone else have luck out there?

Morrow is east of my county a bit. Good hunting territory, I hunt my families land in my county for deer, but go to heppner for elk. We are getting a good herd in my county so I might put in here.

Word travels fast because everyone watches out for each other, and then more than that there is usually one old lady in the town that is constantly in everyones business. I've had thefts prevented on my family property because we got calls from neighbors on neighboring property saw lights down in x location. Well climb in the ol pickup and haul ass, find some meth head looking fuckers give my friend who is a leo know whats up and he hauls ass out there. Turns out they were stealing from farms.

That's precisely one of many things I appreciated about the town: the people actually knew each other. That, and people waved at us as we passed on the highway.

Lol yep. I missed a wave the other day and god damn did I get my ass chewed out in the market. I guess I better be on my stuff since my truck is the only ford powerstroke crew, with a winch bumper, kc lights, and flatbed in the county.

I grew up in Heppner, lived there for 20 years. Lots of good people. I go back 4 or 5 times a year to hang out with some old buddies.

I still hunt deer in the area over by Condon. There is good hunting out there. If you are wanting to hunt deer north of Heppner that is the Columbia Basin unit. If you don't know somebody with land to hunt on, don't put in for that unit. I think it is only 10% public. You can hunt the Heppner unit but lot's of people put in for that unit so you might have to build up some points before you draw it.
